smh

we are talkin about 2 different things.

not the show started by mr mcdaniels,

we are talking about THE BOX which is now MTV2.

it was a channel where you called a number, gave a code for the video you wanna see and then they charge it to your phone bill.

kids used to be runnin up the phone bill and parents didnt even know wtf was goin on at first.

2pac & bone stayed in rotation back in the day.

i think The Crossroads video was the most requested video of all time

whoever poppin at the moment..when the box was at its peak hard core rap was the style..right now probley be 2chainz or that bands make em dance joint

I was born in 89 dont remember that shit tho, I guess that was before I started payin attention to music, I remember MTV Jams when Bill Bellamy was the host

yeah i remeber i was young ass shit when it was out.. crossroas was i think the all time most viewed.. i remember Kris kross- jump playing on that shit like crazy!

It was called "Video Jukebox Network" before it was "The Box"

I was 16 when that shit hit the L.A. Cable TV scene in 1989 and all ya heard was Vanilla Ice back to back to back. Then X-Clan "Heed The Word of the Brother" was quite frequently requested shortly after.

These days it could be anybody because rappers would spend they advertisement budget and more making sure they got rotation on the Box probably moreso indie groups than mainstream commercial. A video was $3.99 back then.
