J.Cole needs to take notes from Wiz when it comes to marketing yourself and standing out

Wiz came in the game with no co-sign or anything but connected with fans through social network sites and having a name for his fans (Taylor Gang)

Now dude is so big, he turned down touring with Drake and signing with Ross' Maybach Music label because he runs his own operation and can call the shots

Its all about marketing yourself in today's rap game

Just dropping dope music aint gonna give you a buzz

I agree wit hyou to a certain degree. Wiz is smart as far as letting his record label handle the marketing strategy but he will catch a major L if he signs with maybach. That's like a starter in college skipping the draft(if it was possible) just to sign as a free agent to be a second or third string.

Exactly, Nelly never really had a fanbase, he had dick riders who jump from one popular rapper to the next. They went from Ja Rule, to Nelly, to 50, to Drake. Pop fame is fleeting, that's why it's more important to build a fanbase from the ground up because as soon as the next new comes along you will get left behind.

If you look at how Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye blew up you would know it was the college crowd who embraced them first and pushed them in the mainstream, i see the same shit happening with J Cole. I don't expect broke hood niggas to buy cds, but college white bitches do and request all that shit. I graduated from the second biggest college in the country (UCF) and i hear lots of people bumping his shit, i even hear his shit down here at UM.

I'm living in the real world dude, you are living in whatever project you are in. I put money dude takes off as soon as he drops the right single, the fanbase and buzz is there right now for him to take off.
