He aint going double wood, some of you niggas must not be in college. I hear lots of people playing him on different campuses and he has a huge female following, like Dr. Dre said, it's all about choosing the right single at this point. So if the single is right i think he can do B.o.B type numbers in his first week and be in the 150,000 range and do gold.

I can tell you know, dude ain't gonna be a instant platinum rapper like a Drake, because his style is less popish, but he will get their eventually and have more longevity. He is gonna be a Nas,Jay,Pac etc type instead of a Nelly,50,etc type.

As for a hit record, he has a hit record right now with IN THE MORNING. The label needs to get off it's ass and put the shit out (the original without Drake) as a single on Itunes and shoot a video.

If he dropped right now? Damn. son would flop harder than that Nas album that came out. Anyone remember the name of that album?

Not hating whatsoever but, He needs that commercial hit. I'm sure he'll put drake on a hook sooner than later because like lil wayne said, "and we gonna be alright if we put drake on every hook." Sad but true.

Honestly J. Cole is built for a marathon not a for a 100 meter dash on some Usain Bolt shit. As of right now hes touring and getting good showings which means hes probally making money. This nigga is doing a majority of songs without features or living off a pop hook like some of these fuck niggas who are too lazy to write better verses and repeat the hook 90 times and hide the verses under a beat. No matter what hes does hes not going to go gold right away. However the fact that he can spit and the fact at least from what i hear from fans at the college i go to and many people my age hes going to have a loyal fanbase that will come to shows and support his shit.

I was with a female last night and she played In The Morning for me, so I asked for her opinion of him. She said that she enjoyed listening to Cole but while he makes good songs for the ladies, all of his other songs turn her off. Plus she said he needs better beats because she wasn't felling the ones he made. So, if I was to go off a fans perspective I would say somewhere around 150k first week and eventually going gold.

real talk, if anyone here has read my post im a huge fan of j.cole but if he dropped an album now he'd prolly sell 20,000. he'd sell horrible, he got a internet fanbase, but hes yet to hit the mainstream with some hits, i thought he shouldve made a music video for one song on FNL or two, get them joints on the radio, then start droppin some singles for the album.

but im not an A&R tho so he'll figure it out but his foot aint in the door yet give em time

but that's the problem with "getting sales" is even though catering to women like drake gets you sales the market is no longer diverse. One reason i like j cole is because he doesnt bullshit cater to pop audiences or to women. Now on the warm up hell say stuff life "give it up to the ladies" and another song he talks about men who blame women for getting pregnant are lame cause they are to blame too. If your paitient like jay z or nas or even kanye (pre sellout phase) you wont get a bandwagon crowd right away but slowly and surely you can get a solid fan base without kissing pop or female ass.

You have to appeal to women, they're the ones buying records right now.

he'll do 20-30k at best. however he is building up a fanbase and in a way j cole is a throwback to the days when labels took their time and developed an artist rather than putting him out there and hoping he sells. j cole needs a huge hit single although who dat did do its job.

LOL at internet fanbase, like i said you niggas aren't on college campuses and yall definitely haven't seen his shows, especially from the beginning to now. If yall are looking around your hoods to see the reaction you probably won't see it, but go to a big campus and you will.

niggas need to realize that hip hop has gotten so big that you can't judge an artist strictly on what the hood is checking for anymore.

Yeah, RIGHT NOW....but that shit doesn't last long, just Ja Rule, Nelly, 50 and in a couple of years ask Drake.

J. Cole is more suited to be more of a Nas/Common/Talib Kweli type of artist....start off slow and build a loyal fanbase that will support you 10 years from now. He'll never go platinum, shit he may never even go gold, but he'll be around longer than these artist who have fickle ass mainstream fanbases

EVERYBODY downloads shit! lol The difference is that those broke ass college niggas will still be going to his shows in 5 years. Compare that to a nigga like Waka Flocka, nobody is gonna be check for him in 5 years. Not only will he not be selling albums anymore, but no one will be going to his shows either. He'll be another Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Chingy type of artist

A few niggas, sit your ass down somewhere dude. If you look at how Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye blew up you would know it was the college crowd who embraced them first and pushed them in the mainstream, i see the same shit happening with J Cole. I don't expect broke hood niggas to buy cds, but college white bitches do and request all that shit. I graduated from the second biggest college in the country (UCF) and i hear lots of people bumping his shit, i even hear his shit down here at UM.

I'm living in the real world dude, you are living in whatever project you are in. I put money dude takes off as soon as he drops the right single, the fanbase and buzz is there right now for him to take off.
