If DMX died (God forbid) in his heyday would he have been mentioned now as a GOAT?

I think so, like after he released AND THEN THERE WAS X or something... I think he'd be looked upon as one of the goats, but he's rarely mentioned in anyone's top 10 nowadays though...

I feel he's kinda like Tupac 2.0 in his raps not that he's better or taking his style, but lyrically he's incredibly open about his feelings and he brings his demons and emotions to life in his music, and all the controversy too... And he's got that way where he can connect with the listener...

They don't really make people like that anymore he's one of a kind... I do feel that he's fallen off especially with what I've heard from this year so I'm not expecting a triumphant comeback or anything, but it seems like he's got his head straight this time around which is great... DMX is kinda that guy everybody just wants to succeed but he's got so many demons that his biggest enemy really is himself...

Anyways what do you say?

he's what Tupac would have been if he was still alive

its something ive thought about quite a bit. although lacking the social conciousness of Pac, he had the emotion and passion that rivals Shakur crack addiction be damned.

Hell yea. I felt that niggas impact on the West so I can only imagine what it was like on the East. Me and the homies waiting in front of Wherehouse for it to open to get It's Dark... That nigga was nice for a minute. It's crazy how hard a nigga can fall off. I think he's a prime example of what happens when niggas bite niggas styles. When he came through he was a breath of fresh air. A straight up style of his own. He was that nigga. Them came Rule and countless other X clones. Then everybody was on the grimey shit. When a nigga like Lil Wayne can get away with talkin like he built like that who the young white crowd gone gravitate to? Wayne or DMX? LMAO, that nigga still wear jean suits! These kids aint checkin for him. He's a wrap. Lol, thats my nigga tho.

One of the greatest hip hop songs of all time

Most definitely...

Tupac wasn't the best anything when he was alive, but he dies and now he's GOAT
Biggie was good, but no one was claiming him to be the best rapper out, but he dies and now he's GOAT
Big L was a nobody, and because he died people says he's one of the best to do it
Big Pun was wack, and was a nobody, but because he died people say he's a legend
etc.

DMX is (arguably) a better emcee than all of them, so it's no question he would be looked at as one of the greatest to do it.

Simply put, no. If he would have had to die for people to recognize his legacy or greatness, then he wasn't THAT great in his hey.

Yeah he´s going down as one of the greatest for sure but the bad thing is that we know he got an addiction.

BIG L = GOT KILLED
PAC = KILLED
BIGGIE = KILLED
PUN DIED = HEALTH PROBLEM

ON SOME REAL SHIT I DONT THINK DMX CAN FUCK LYRICALY WITH PAC BIGGIE OR PUN BUT CLOSE.

Yeah, I don't doubt that people would be sayin 'DMX is in my top 5 doa' he's incredibly lucky he hasn't died yet when you actually think about it. he's had 1 foot in the grave for yearssss between the crack addiction, robbin dudes, etc.

I'm from NY, and in the 90's there were a bunch of good emcees, but no one was hyping Pac, Biggie, or Big Pun.

Like I said Biggie was good, but nowhere near the best. Wu Tang had shit on lock. Ghost, Rae and them were better rappers and more popular than Biggie at the time. Also, Nas released Illmatic and shut NY down. LL had the commercial shit on lock.

Big Pun was Fat Joe's lacky aka he was a nobody. He pretty much just stole Kool G Rap's whole style and ran with it aka he was wack as fuck. That bitin' shit didn't fly back then.

Tupac was the dude in the media for everything but rap. He had some good songs, but NO ONE was saying he's anywhere near the best to do it. Especially when all he did was copy Ice Cube's style and bite LL's formula. Dude wasn't original at all, and all that gangsta shit he was talking was play play.

Also, DMX is definitely better than those guys if we talking straight emceeing. His delivery alone puts him ahead of 95% of his peers.

u gotta be dumb as hell to not acknoeledge the fact that biggie bought the east coast back to mainstream relevance. while wu tang, nas and mobb deep had a buzz on the underground/street front in the mid 90's, it was big who had the hits, sales and was actually makin an impact. He even inspired Nas to change his formula when he dropped It Was Written. but u are rite about pac tho.

DMX is one of the goat. He just peaked too early and his personal demons are too crazy. He had a crazy good run. He is the realest rapper ever besides Pac. He is a true artist.

Tupac has waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more range and shit to offer than DMX. Don't ever compare X to Pac, and people know i have my criticism of Pac too. Pac never barked on half his tracks and call it music, Pac was easilly a better artist, songwriter, and a mc period.
