No. None of the factors you listed had anything to do w/ Bis not blowing up. Dude had one of the biggest producers at the time behind him in Wyclef who was just coming off of his own successful album and the first Destiny's Child album. 1998 saw lyricists like Lauryn Hill, Big Punisher, OutKast, and Jay Z all either blow up or take their fame to even greater heights. Bis lacked the other attributes that made those emcees huge on a mainstream level while he never reached those peaks. Those attributes are: flow, delivery, charisma, production and artistry. It doesn't matter how good the lyrics are, a mainstream audience isn't going to notice if the other qualities aren't there.

No way. Canibus was always really overrated, and I'm amazed anybody thought he could succeed. He has an incredible vocabulary, and is a good rhymer, but that's it. He thought he was really deep, but once you get a grip on what he's actually saying, he's no different from 90% of the rappers in the game.

He always sounds like he's trying way too hard to sound extraordinary or really super duper goddamn smart. He also has a habit of whining and bitching and moaning. A guy can have talent but if he's really arrogant about it and sulks whenever he feels like ppl don't regard him as the GIMFH (Greatest in Mother Fucking History) no one will like him or acknowledge what talent he does have.

His debut had terribly production. I mean, a song like "Buckingham Palace" should not be on a record and those ill versus should be saved for better beats. With that said, lyrically it was outta sight and some of the concepts (Get Retarded, Nigganometry, Channel Zero) actually carry it to a 3/5.
2000 BC goes hard but is purely battle shit. He dropped some of the iller concepts from the debut and just went in on every track. Somehow, without Wyclef, he ended up with better production.

I agree with you that he does bitch a lot about his career...I think dude just has a hard time understanding why he couldn't find his niche in the mainstream and also feels like he got black balled for going at a dude who TODAY isn't even really on peoples radar or even topping list (LL Cool J).

Far as him blowing and being huge...I don't think the mainstream is ever going to accept a rapper like him. Look at the direction he has taken his music and the direction commercial rap has taken. A lot of dudes don't blow, hell, most don't. He had a small opportunity and he failed to drop singles that got play.
