If BIG was still alive....do u think him & JAY-Z would still be down with each other?

I would say yes, as for all that Jay track record nonsense, Biggie was his own person and had his own work ethic. For all the people who fell out with Jay-z it's always been some business shit and bitching about what Jay doesn't do for them financially, why would Jay and Biggie have financial issues.

I think we would of gotten some great fucking music if Big was still alive, they probably would of done a couple of Commission albums.

Nah, jigga wouldn't have sent a shot. They both would have teamed up and started a record label. I think Biggie would have gotten tired of that commercial rap that puffy was trying to branch him into.

Because Jay clearly wouldn't have been making commercial records:

Jay would of said sum slick shit like "I own mine, while other so called kings work for others (hint: big/puff)"

if if if...

u cats ever discuss contemporary hip hop?

The current state of Hip-Hop is to depressing to stay on contemporary shit....unless talkin bout Waynes music all day makes your day :(

nah, jay moves differently, Big wouldnt have been down with Jay's funny style...Big came across as a loyal cat, moreso than jigga anyway...

Jay Z woudl've pulled some fuckboy shit on Biggie just like he did on Jaz-O, Dame Dash, Alliyah and DaCaven, but Biggie would've had him bumped off and dumped in the East River.

Wasn't big tryna make his own label and put together a super group or some shit.

And a Brooklyn mint clothing label?

I think he was tryna create his own lane type of thing, I could be wrong though. That's why I don't understand the direction of that notorious movie where they tried to paint him as being pulled by puffy strings.

I think Jay knew he was a few steps behind big but felt like he closed the gap. So if big was here to still takes steps Jay would still be coming up short.

My two pennies

Glad someone finally made this thread. Walk with me for a moment...

A while back, Marvel Comics created this parallel universe called the "Age of Apocalypse" where Professor X died before creating the X-Men and the mutant Apocalypse took over the world. Perhaps the most ironic twist in this alternate universe was that, Magneto--whom was still alive--ended up adopting Professor X's ideals and put together a collective of mutants to try to fight Apocalypse.

Not to say we're living in a parallel universe where Big wasn't supposed to die, but I oftentimes wonder had he lived, would their careers/relationship played out like the modern day Marvel comics that we know--where Professor X and Magneto fight against one another. Only now, Jig ended up adopting Big's role as KONY whereas if Big were alive, he would have played the primary nemesis. Not to be corny, but Jig did somewhat allude to this on "City is Mine" where he said, "you held it down long enough, lemme take those reigns."

In other words, I think Big and Jig most definitely would have eventually beefed on wax...but still had an unsaid respect for one another. Real talk, you can hear it on Brooklyn's Finest and I Love the Dough, they're not going after one another, but they most definitely are trying to one-up one another verse after verse. Both are from Brooklyn and there can be only one king. More broader, Jay-Z, as we now know, had much bigger aspirations than being just a talented MC that only heads that knew hip-hop gave props. There's no way he'd have emerged from under Big's shadow without some sort of showdown.

dr. king lookin' like bo jackson in that pic.

why would they beef? to say it was because of competition doesnt mean they had to beef. they would have just pushed each other to be better. saying jay isnt loyal and big was? big career wasnt long enough for us to know that. its really no telling but imo business folks beef over money. unless big left bad boy to come to rocafella then i dont see why that would have become an issue. i doubt he would have done that...if anything big would have left bad boy and went with un. big beef would have been with bad boy not jay.
