I truly believe that blacks need to drop this word from our vocabulary. A true artist can find other words to use.

I can't rock with that whole took the word and turned a negative into a positive ........ it's 2017 and cats still hop in their feelings over the word. It will never lose its negative connotations

Picking and choosing who can and can't use a word gets confusing ..... white boy jake gets a pass cause he lives in the 'hood and grew up poor around blacks? Well, jake don't live on my block and if we cross paths and he says it to me ...... I'm immediately checking him.
