good read. the only thing i dont get is the natural born killaz thing. he spoke on it then eminem but there is a few years difference from when they first talked about the natural born killaz album and em coming along. i was really looking forward to that album coming out but it never happened. i always thought it was recorded but just never released. this was like 93-94, em aint come around to the best of my knowledge until 98-99.

after reading this i realize that eazy and cube were more business partners than homeboys which i never thought about. i didn't think they grew up together but i thought it was more that than what he has described. i guess dre was the common factor in their relationship. it makes me look at no vasilene differently now. real talk i saw the episode of the show with dee barnes when she had ice cube on it. funny how that turned into some legendary ish after with dre beating her down over it. the weird thing about that show is that i don't ever remember seeing it before or since the time cube was on there. i guess i just got lucky.

after amerikkka's most wanted cube became my favorite rapper. really he became alot of people's favorite, his story telling and the cohesiveness of that album is just solid.no filler or throw away tracks. even the skits was on point to me. i loved the kill at will ep also. dead homies, endangered species, who's the mack and jackin' for beats. my favorite albums was from straight outta compton until the predator. i really didn't like that predator album at all. he had maybe three tracks that i like when previously i would play his albums straight through. lethal injection was okay but the production imo was great. they had some great songs on there as well and you know how we do at the time felt like today was a good day. sort of a similar vibe. i liked natrual born killaz a lil bit but i was more so excited that not only dre and cube was gettin back together but that they were going to do an album together. i felt that west side connection was a gimmick but it had some strong tracks on there. after that my music taste changed and i wasn't really feelin cube like that no more. i checked out one of the war and peace disk, i don't really remember which one but at that point it was just out of curiosity. the rest i never listened to, just maybe a trak here and there. ultimately i feel like i grew up out of that g-ish and everything associated with it, but cube never did. the last time i rocked a pair of chuck taylors was in '96 but i see cube still got a pair on. peace

Great Read. Cube is still the man 20 years later. These youngin's need to do their research. Cube is definetly goat material. His long gevity is 2nd to none. His originality & influence can't be denied. Death Certificate is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all-time! West Up!

Did you know that Cube has more plaques than any other rapper, even JayZ?? Yep I think Jayz only has 13......

Are we losing your laughable criteria now? If so, this statement is completely inaccurate. Cube does not have more plaques. We both know this. I'm all for paying homage to Cube but lets not go overboard. Not only has Jay sold an astronomical amount of more records than cube, he's still a damn near double platinum artist. Cube on the other hand......

What you might want to do is find the resources and information to refute my statement.
I addressed you once before and told you that no rapper has more platinum and Gold rap records than Ice Cube
so go do the math and not Gucci-Geometry and prove me wrong.

The post I linked above stated that;

Did you know that Cube has more plaques than any other rapper, even JayZ?? Yep I think Jayz only has 13....

Not once is your comical criteria mentioned. You simply stated more plaques. Any person with an agenda-less view of the plaques of both artist will rapidly realize that this is inaccurate. Why? Because they will not use excuses such as not including albums that are technically...rap. Like "the MTV endorsed" or "compilation" which is quite hilarious being that The Dynasty album has Jay as the only artist featured on the cover. Lets deal with actual facts....

10 Platinum plaques (solo)
1 Platinum plaque for The Dynasty
1 Platinum Plaque for Streets is Watching
2 Platinum plaques for his RAP/r&b albums with R.Kelly
1 Platinum plaque for RAP/Rock album with Linkin Park
1 Gold plaque for his Unplugged album
1 Gold plaque for Blueprint 2.1

That equals 17 plaques. If you choose to create a criteria to better your argument, fine. However, that doesn't mysteriously change what's in RIAA's database and who's name corresponds with said numbers. Like I said earlier, I give much props to Cube. I just fail to realize what Jay has to do with this whole equation in the first place.....

As I stated in post # 14 when addressing you:

Without the:

R & B collabo -2
M.T.V. sponsored album -1
Compilation artist album -1
Rock collabo albums with Linkin Park -1

-5

Ice Cube does not have a rap/rock, rap/R&B, or an M.T.V. album in his catalog, he has pure HipHop/Rap albums.

No pandering or catering to a pop crowd, rock crowd or R&B crowd to tap into another fanbase to generate sales.

RAP ALBUMS.

Aint Blueprint unplugged a Rap Album still. Compilation was Jay-Z on the front it was Jay-Z that sold that album if u dont include that u cant include the NWA album or Friday sountrack isnt that a considered a compilation album since Dr. Dre had the lead single "Keep The Head Ringing". Its not 2 discredit Cube b/c he still the GOAT it just seems kind of bias

Great reading. As an east coast head his material always went over my head. Except his obvious classics, I never checked for his other shit. This article made me want dig his discography a bit deeper.

Add all the JayZ albums you want and then subtract all the Ice Cube albums you want according to whatever bias or criteria
and Ice Cube still shines the brightest because his catalog dosent include R&B hybird albums
marketed towards women, or Rock hybird albums marketed towards white consumers, the two biggest demographics saleswise who purchase C.D.'s.

No pop tunes in this catalog.

Subtract the "Friday" soundtrack and add the actual movie "Friday" along with 20 movie credits as director/producer/writer. & 25 acting credits.
Subtract the "N.W.A." albums and add the successful T.V. series "Are we there Yet" thats was recently renewed for 90 episodes
Accomplish all that with a 20 year marriage while raising 4 kids and never once catching a case or having to go to rehab.

Nobody will ever do it bigger than Ice Cube and he's not even finished yet.
