A big pimpin record doesn't even fit his persona . He should get a hard knock life type record tho cause that fits and that's what got jay poppin.

he can't even do a glasshouse type of record .

Let's keep it real the only reason why Cole hasn't blown up is because he's not a entertaining character that they can carve into a lane. He's not all extra'd out, hard, weird or anything he's just a regular dude which is a bad thing if you wanna be succesful in today's entertainment world. He can rap but people don't get the entertainment they looking for from him. Like i said today's crowd doesn't buy into records or talent, they buy into the artist.

It's like reality shows, i'm sure there's been some great and real shows with meaning but because they don't have the fights, the drink throwing, the arguments and whatnot people don't care. We live in a fast food generation, face it. That's one of the problems when the industry cater their material to the youth they might buy it and they might be gullible but they have a fast food mentality.

I disagree to a certain extent. while you are right about the industry being more about image/building a brand than the music, I disagree about a regular nigga making it. That nigga drake didnt have a special story or any controversy surrounding him. he's got a team who wants to win even when he doesnt ,surrounding him. J cole doesnt have that. His team is spoiled by jay-z's aura.

No but Drake also had a background as an actor and again he was supposedly a dude who rapped more-so for the chicks, let's be honest. Most of his music is catered to the female audience so he says and does anything that he thinks females wanna hear and they bought into it. Just check which songs of his mixtape that made him blow up..so in a sense he's still carved into a lane and maybe he doesn't have that character but he still "acts like a rapper" if you know what i mean.

Those artists aren't succesful in the mainstream though. They're doing their thing in their own lane but they ain't really mainstream. It's like this, why did Wiz blow up and not Currensy? Even though they always did music and their content pretty much is the same? I think we all know the answer to that.

Cole isn't even that nice lyrically. He's not bad at all, but if I had to give him a report card for his abilities as a rapper and an entertainer he'd get straight "C"s......Cole is just TOO AVERAGE, TOO REGULAR. Cole gonna forever be Honorable Mention status.

How did drake not have a special story? He was on Degrassi! When I saw drake, that's the first thing I noticed.

Yea but you make it sound like NOBODY with talent can make it today and that's false. Like dude said earlier KRIT is the perfect example. KRIT doesn't have any of that TMZ shit going on either, he's just a regular dude........he just has the ability to entertain while Cole does not. Honestly I believe Cole would be doing so much better if he wasn't under Jay and didn't have all this pressure to be something that he's not.

Cole CANT make a record like Big Pimpin, to produce a record like that You need more than lyrical ability you need(overused word of the day) CHARISMA. Cole too boring and laid back for that. This Trey Songz record sounds worse than the one Lupe did on Lazers. I just think they're trying to package and market Cole the wrong way. He should not being doing party/club type tracks, he just doesn't have that in him.

What makes Big Krit more entertaining than Cole? Because I honestly don't see it at all. He's boring IMO but I can respect him as a rapper.
