I could tell Big Pimpin was a hit as soon as a heard it and I wasn't even a fan of Jay's back then....classic song, beat, hook, verses by Jay and Ugk.......Coles not so much, If your not already a fan of Cole will this song make you a fan? I don't think the songs are anywhere close....and I'm not a Cole stan or a hater....

“It’s like ‘Big Pimpin” minus the million-dollar budget,” Cole told Rap-Up.com of the last-minute shoot, which took place on a catamaran in Barbados surrounded by the beautiful scenery and women.

Cole spoke exclusively with us about the story behind the song, what you can expect from the island-themed visuals, and whether Barbados babe Rihanna will make an appearance.

How did the song come together?
So Brian Kidd produced that. When I first got in with No I.D., I’m looking at him like, “This guy’s fuckin’ incredible.” I saw how No I.D. works and listened to his beats and thought that he was incredible and everything I want to be in a producer. But he would always talk about how incredible this guy named Brian Kidd was. To me, it was like you talking to Kevin Durant like, “Yo, you’re really good,” and he’s like, “You think I’m good? You should see this guy.” It just so happened that Brian moved to L.A. and him and No I.D. got a studio together, so when I was in L.A., I got a chance to meet him and went right next door and heard some beats and I wanted every beat I heard. But I settled on the “Can’t Get Enough” beat because it did something to me.

'Can't Get Enough' is opposite that video though. It's on a much grander scale, got a 'Big Pimpin'' vibe.

It definitely has potential to be your break out song. Especially when it comes to women really paying attention. Were you searching for a song with that type of energy?

Originally I couldn't ever for see that song, I could only pray for that type of song. When I started making this album I didn't have the ability to make that record. It took a good year to even learn what it took to make that song—going on the road with Jay and watching him do 'Big Pimpin'... I wanted that. I remember going into the studio with No I.D. and telling him 'Yo, I need a 'Big Pimpin'' because the energy is so crazy when Jay performs that song.' But I didn't have the right tools yet as a rapper.

the problem with j. cole is that he's an average rapper with high expectations...and he rap like kanye and jay z....cracker needs to get his own style

When Cole made the statement about Big Pimpin, he was describing the video concept...not the song.

Lol not even close. But that song with trey could be a breakout song and big pimpin is one of the biggest hits ever. I think cole needs to look @ his idol's homeboy and follow his path. He's way more likely to succeed following the kanye blueprint than he is the jay blueprint.....

This quote comes from a completely different interview than the one you previously posted. He wasn't necessarily referring to Can't Get Enough when he was making this statement.
