It dropped something, kept going straight for maybe 30 seconds, then took off fast upward at an angle, not straight up.

I saw one when I was little. It wasn't until I was older until I realized what it was. I believe you saw something vibe but the red strobes sounded a lot like an air plane. The description you gave of it's movement doesn't sound like anything man made.

It was probably some military sh@t. I hardly believe that it could be a UFO. Not because I don't believe in extra terrestrials, but because if an alien race had mastered the technology of space flight, I am pretty sure that they would have mastered some kind of cloaking technology. Look at our own advances in invisible technology (Optical Camouflage) and we aren't even close to having the capability to visit planets in other galaxies. If we are just touching the surface of Optical Camouflage, how far ahead would the aliens be?

Yeah, my wife and I keep talking about what it could be. After doing some research on weather balloons, it didn't fit the sighting. Planes are out of the question.

Only thing I can think of is some type of special craft dropping a beacon or something. Who knows. I'll just stick to UFO/alien. Not far fetched at all, other life exists I know it does.
