In my 30 years of life I can't ever recall being directly approached. I've always gotten the lingering look, the double take, or the smile and I usually react off those. On the flip side of that coin though, I've also never been rejected since I only went after the women that I knew were interested.

Worked out well for me though. Would've been a welcome change to actually have a woman approach me, however. Convo is never an issue for me. I'll find something for us to converse about.
