The Jay/Nas beef made "rap beefs" popular so there was alot more division amongst NY rappers in the early 2000s. Compared to the late 90s where almost every NY artist had that "collabo track" with like 5 other artists.

So while NY was beefing all over the board, music was still being made by other regions. the south was already beginning to heat up around 2000. and since hip hop is kind of a transitional style of music....it was pretty much fair game to any region that wanted it bad enough.
