I haven't douched in a minute, but when I was single and had my little fuck buddy I'd do it occasionally. Period over Wednesday, date night Friday..couldn't have it smelling of leftover period, so I'd do a vinegar/water douche. We get it in at anytime these days so there's no need.

I don't see the difference in that and sitting in a bath, but apparently it's bad for the vagina.

Personally I think the ill effects come from overdoing it..the rare unscented douche isn't about to kill anybody.
