Before I moved, I was reminded everyday because I lived in a racist white city. Even where I worked, people who came in after me and were white were getting privliges I wasn't even though I would speak up. I'll never forget the promotion I didn't get because they gave it to someone who was not qualified and I was. I moved to the Lou, and I still see some racism, and of course I'm happy when I'm not the only black face around. I also notice it when all the white people are all talking and joking and I'm not part of the conversation.
