Hmm...ok. So regardless of if that person calls, or not, should they meet the qualifications, they will get a call back? Is that correct?

Wouldn't that prove the point of my initial statement? Calling does not up your chances of getting a call...either you meet the criteria, or you don't.

If we need to fill a certain amount of position within a certain time frame and we got less applicants than positions available then I'm not going to ignore someone who doesn't fully meet our criteria. In most cases we will not get people who meet every single aspect that we are looking for. that's the purpose of us holding interviews and talking to potential employees to see if we feel this person would be suitable to work for us.

Ok...you are totally getting away from the initial statement you made. If that person does not call, more than likely, you will not consider the applicant. Now you are branching out to something in the opposite direction.

If the person has the criteria, they will be set up for an interview. As a courtesy, if they do not, they will receive an email stating that the company has found the most qualified individual, if they applied online by submitting a resume. If the person filled out a paper application, and does not receive a callback within the month, it is safe to assume that you were not selected. That's SOP in the HR field.

The era of resumes is out the window......its coming down to who you know, experience in that field and networking it saves companies money and time going through all those resumes. Majority resumes people submit go through an internal program that finds the best match and looks for keywords in your resume from there they rank the candidates.

best thing you can do is, change your race on your application to white. I had to do that, and got call backs, mofo's looked sick in the face when I showed up. I got the job. Miami runs by cubans, so ofcourse they mostly look out for their own. Oh I was calling them back to back too*shrugs*

I've thought about doing this but if you lie about your race on the application, do you run the risk of not getting the job or getting fired down the line?

Don't expect them to call you first, call them. They don't need a job, you do......

I managed at Mcdonalds in my college years and we would call people 2 weeks to 1 month after the app was submitted.

If i were you i would call 2 weeks after you submitted it. It shows you look forward to working and may bump you up over someone who is more qualified but doesn't put in a call.

Yeah, about that....calling the HR person does not better your chances of getting an interview. Only after you've been to an interview should you call for a status update.

If you do not get a call or an email requesting an interview, it is safe to assume that you were not selected for the initial interview process.

Doesn't that kinda just depend on what type of company you applied at? If there is no HR department calling quickly before an interview would seem to be a better idea than if you are going for a career job at a company big enough to have an HR department. But then again I don't submit applications so I dunno just assuming correct me if I'm wrong.
