I've always said Blacks have it a lot better in America than anywhere else in the world. Spending a good bit of time overseas I would never want to live anywhere else but here.

It doesn't mean black faced girl, it means darkened or blackened face, and it has nothing to do with black people.
It's really to Japan what the Emo/Screamo scene is to America. Ganguro girls usually have dark tans and have bright hair colors, like yellow, white, bright pink. etc...

that first video is really really bad though. smh.

OH AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON YOU WHITE DEVIL - what I imagined him saying
ThaChozenWun;1461411 said:Well obviously if something that is such a big fashion statement in Japan is portrayed completely wrong in a "Japanese Video" I will call it out because it loses all authenticity. The shit was likely made in America by ignorant girls who subtitled it and have no idea of their culture back home.
I've seen niggas make the same type videos about rednecks and shit too, it goes both ways.

It say's it the Ganguro lifestyle, which aside from darkened skin nothing else in it is legit. No bright hair, no platform shoes, no brightly colored short skirts. It's just fake all the way around.

The people I know and visit in Japan love and respect african american culture. But, I will admit that most of what they know about it is from movies and music. They don't teach african american history in schools, and in all honesty why should they? We don't don't japanese history in america. I've seen black people in japan in Harajuku intimidating japanese women and disrespecting the culture. However, I've also seen idiot white people in Roppongi walking around drunk and disorderly through out the streets screaming at people, and also disrespecting the culture. I won't even go into the US soldiers, both black and white. There are many black people in Japan that are well respected and actually creating a lot of positive attention...one in particular is an african american Enka (old japanese classic "blues" music) named Jero that just won the new artist of the year in that genre...that is almost unheard of and would never have been expected in years.
here is a video from jero...

In fact, the country existed as a completely isolated society for more than 100 years until the U.S. basically bullied them into opening themselves up for trade. So it should stand to reason that some of them aren't always the most receptive to outsiders.
Edit: How that dude Jero wind up doing that music? He looks so out of place, but he does it perfectly. lol
