No independence day, Men in black, or other movies. Lets just say if Will Smith was to try to make in music off rapping and doing his thing on the music tip.

Any ideas or guesses on how big his career would be.

just curious.

shit dude would have fell off shit thats why he broke into tv .... it revived his career in entertainment i believe so .....

He probably would have been done by the early 90's because gangsta rap was taking over then and he wouldn't have been able to thrive on just his music only.

Smith spent money freely during his early career and underpaid his income taxes. The Internal Revenue Service eventually assessed a $2.8 million tax debt against Smith, took many of his possessions, and garnished his income.[11] Smith was nearly bankrupt in 1990 when the NBC television network signed him to a contract and built a sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, around him. The show was successful and began his acting career. Smith set for himself the goal of becoming "the biggest movie star in the world," studying box office successes' common characteristics.[7]

^^^^^^ if it wasnt for tv will smith might be living out a card board box off city line ave ;)

In the beginnin, he wasn't a bad rapper at all, especially for his time in the game...Nigga won a Grammy...

Shit got bad around that "Welcome To Miami" phase...But even then, "Gettin Jiggy Wit It" wasn't horrible...And the joint about his son was classic...It's just like all his music since then has been corny though...

He was wack on the mic, and still is....haven't had a real hit in da "hood, since summer of '91

....fortunately he was light-skinned so White America's tv producers came-a-calling, or else...

he'd be just like Big Daddy Kane

nah son...Kane was a well respected rapper in his day

niggas never respected the fresh prince...he was the class clown of hip-hop

the only reason his music was popular after 91 was because of his TV shows and Movies...and he needed ghostwriters to make the music

In the longrun his musical talents werent gonna get him very far.

He's in that same mold as Puff. Ghostwriter + hot beats = hit singles = platinum album

Will just happened to figure out how to capitalize off rap before the rest of the industry.

"met ali he told me im the greatesssssss"

dude woulda probably been straight

if he was forced2 be "1 dimensional'

he would have probably diversified within the music industry

maybe had a group maybe move into production

look @ him as being a will.i.am. type artist

not hood but overall still seen as successfull

doubt homies hustle would allow him to settle 4 mediocrity
