How do you feel about the song 'Cleaning out my closet' by Eminem

One of Marshall's best, imo. Definitely shined the brightest light on him and his mom's relationship.

"Now I would never diss my own momma just to get recognition

Take a second to listen for you think this record is dissing

But put yourself in my position; just try to envision

Witnessing your momma popping prescription pills in the kitchen

Bitching that someone's always going through her purse and shit's missing

Going through public housing systems, victim of Munchhausen's Syndrome

My whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't

'Til I grew up, now I blew up, it makes you sick to ya stomach

Doesn't it? Wasn't it the reason you made that CD for me Ma?

So you could try to justify the way you treated me Ma?

But guess what? You're getting older now and it's cold when you're lonely

And Nathan's growing up so quick he's gonna know that you're phony."

I think it was dope, one thing I can say about Em is that he has balls (nh). He put all his personal business out there on those first couple albums and very few artists are that open about their life for fear of being considered weak or soft.

I think it's an unspoken privilege of his whiteness, he wasn't beholden to the demented caricature of black machismo that keeps black rappers always in fear of being judged by peers and fans alike.

This nigga @jono GETS IT.

1 of my fave songs ever

Really deep and emotional song

Can relate to the song because we all have arguments and drama with our parents or family members

He put his pain on wax on that song

It's 1 of the greatest hooks ever in history too. That's the gift Em has see the hook is actually deep as far as the lyrics in the hook but it's catchy as hell at the same time. It stays stuck in your head and is really catchy but deep at the same time.

Yeah Em is the most personal hip hop artist

He has made songs about everything he has experienced in his life all his struggles and his life story he put on wax and poured his heart out he wrote about everyday struggles people related to

Family issues

Poverty

Depression

Relationships

Being a parent

Growing up in a broken home

Marriage issues

Over coming drug addiction

He gets deeper and more personal than any other mainstream hip hop artist, that's wat he does better than other rappers pours his emotions and life story out on songs

On Wednesday, March 23, just two weeks before rap artist Eminem was going to have to take the stand and explain the details of a series of songs he made calling Black people "n***ers," "p**ch m****ys," and "sp**r ch***ers," his own company, Shady Records, withdrew a lawsuit they brought against The Source Magazine in 2003, admitting that The Source had done nothing illegal when it played the songs at a press conference and posted snippets on its website. As The Source originally reported, the songs were recorded in 1993, when Eminem was 21 years old. Eminem had lied and said he was only 16, and also lied about having a breakup with an "African-American" girlfriend, who never existed.

“These guys had us in court for two years now, claiming we were guilty of copyright infringement just because we reported on the racist songs that Eminem made," said David Mays, co-Founder and CEO of The Source. "Now, they admit that we were right all along, after they spent the past two years telling everyone that The Source has no integrity and that we have a 'personal vendetta' against Eminem. We have had to spend a lot of money in court, not to mention that Interscope Records has pulled millions of dollars of advertising from our magazine and tried to influence others to do the same. And a federal judge watches all of this take place and then allows them to withdraw without any penalty. That is how crazy this situation is."

Song was classic when I was 12 I could spit it word for word. Eminem is one of those few rappers who can put his heart in a track. He was never trying to emulate the typical black male stereotype that has taken over hip hop.
