Ok if you really think that there is no use of having a debate. There is no way in hell those songs are better. Pretty Wings Instrumental is better than both of those songs. As a matter of fact Maxwell's band is more talented than both of those dudes

i quit, you win...you didnt even go and get some older Maxwell, your trying to prove how great Pretty Wings is when the song was hot but not that great

Pretty Wings was 13 weeks at number 1 on the R&B charts brother . Second to the record for weeks my MJB ( 14 weeks ) All that I am saying dudes like Dream ,Pretty Ricky and sometimes Trey cant even offer you the depth of lyrics and the instrumentation to even be considered timeless. Melonie Fiona " It Kills Me" is a newer song that is timeless and will be played on your local quite storms for the next 20 years. The song has soul you feel the artist emotion thru the songs . That is what makes songs timeless.

But The Dream be writing some elementary school shit and people stay calling him the truth. He has a few nice songs here and there but lyrically there ain't nothing special about those either. He probably only gets by on the music alone.

1)The-Dream writes the most basic, repetitive, formulaic hooks: I luv ur girl; ooh, ooh, baby, aah aah aah, ooooo, in a falsetto; umbrella ella ella eh eh; shawty is the $hi+, the s4It; the makeup bag, the makeup bag, the makeup bag, bag, bag, bag, bag, bag, bag until I think my head will explode.

2)The-Dream thinks he's more clever than he actually is. For example, on the "Up Out My Face" track on Mariah Carey's Memoirs he had felt the need to throw in stupid, run on metaphors that messed up the flow of the song, e.g. "If we were two LEGO blocks even the Harvard University Class of 2010/could't put us back together again."

3) The-BoogieMan's music videos aren't watchable. Terius Nash's overall unattractiveness automatically detracts from the quality of the video despite him wearing a hat and glasses 90% of the time.

I'm a Trey Songz fan, but he is oversaturating the market with his yodeling.

Dreams music sounds like he makes it up on the go.

"I want a number 2, eh eh/ with a large fry, eh/i want it supersize like you girl, eh eh/ now i'm driving home, eh/ bitch forgot to give me bbq sauce, eh eh/ had to go back to Mcdonalds, oh yeah yeah."

lmao...hilarious post. I agree, the Dream thinks he's big shit for some reason but his music is just o.k. I love his Nikki song, but I always wish someone else who have sang it. I never noticed how repetitive his music is until now, elementary is the perfect description...but he always has a hot beat. His music is forgettable.

Trey's head is getting big, I think that's why he's been doing the extra yoddeling as of late. He didn't use to go that hard with it.

Easy. Just do what I do. Listen to Anthony Hamilton, Raphael Saadiq, Maxwell etc. if wanna listen to "R&B" and not trash like the artists mentioned above. I can't even see myself ever downloading a Dream or Chris Brown album...For what? LOL

Basically.

Chrisette Michelle, Kem, Jill Scott, etc....there are alot of RnB artists that target a more mature audience.

I still like the bubblegum RnB too though. There's a time and place for all kinds of music.

Exactly.... I dont mind the mainstream stuff as long as its good R&B, not watered down and of good quality. But since 95% todays mainstream stuff is trash these days, you just gotta look elsewhere for that good ol' soul music.

It's still good R&B out just the mainstream ones that lack substance. Trey Songz I thought was decent when he first came out but he fell into the do what sells trap.
