"I've never seen a team more criticized in my life, and a guy, LeBron, criticized for doing what was legal," Rivers said. "He didn't break a law, and he didn't do anything wrong. The preseason parade may have been a little much, but other than that?
"I just told him good luck and keep going. He was very emotional, and good for him. I don't think you can play this sport and be a winner without emotion. For me, it was good to see.
"I didn't like (the criticism) because I thought it helped them. They got booed for everything. I said it all year that I wished (the media) would leave them alone, because it allowed them to go through something and prepare for the playoffs."

Doc Rivers is a class act

If they didnt go through the c's in the playoffs, and won a ship... Half the world would have thought their ship was illegitimate...

Doc kickin some pure knowledge right here. All the booing, all the criticism have just fueled these three and made them crazy focused on winning now. Having said that....they havent won shit all yet. If they beat the Bulls in the ECF....that will be an accomplishment.

exactly. i kept telling people nobody wants to see miami in a 7 game series.

another thing that help miami was that boston whooped their ass in the regular season.

plus when boston beat miami in miami, paul pierce tweeted "i just took my talents to south beach"

Hyde5: Will national media come around on Heat?

By Dave Hyde May 12, 2011 07:59 AM

1. The post-game became a national-media focal point for Heat, but not Celtics. The narrative in the national media that began last summer with The Decision and then The Introduction was the Heat were arrogant. And they made some mistakes, as LeBron James again apologized for last night. But it's funny how the national media is having a hard time changing the narrative even as the story changed months ago. The Heat is a mature team led by Wade and James in daily dealings with the media. No diva. No atittude. Eventually, this will come through. They celebrated loudly after this win -- but talked with deep respect about the Celtics. I'm not sure why them showing emotion was a bad thing considering the climactic finish and the brick wall Boston has been to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, et al. But their celebration was the story? If so, why was there no mention of the Celtics? They weren't the Lakers. They weren't dirty. But no sooner had the game ended than Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett led most of the Celtics up the tunnel. Not shaking hands was a point of controversy for LeBron James one spring. And you saw how players who drip with first class handled themselves in a difficult situation. Boston coach Doc Rivers stood on the court and waited to shake or hug the Heat players and even Heat owner Micky Arison. So did Ray Allen. Delonte West hugged LeBron James, which was notable. It was good to hear the Heat stars give Boston their championship props in every comment. It seemed fine to watch them celebrate - at least from the South Florida narrative that the Celtics were the team they were shooting to beat all year. Evidently, it rubbed some in the national media wrong. But that's another narrative that is keeping on for a little while longer. A lot of stuff said about this team has proved wrong. But the narrative has to remain and so it's the celebration that's the problem now? Oh.

Jacked from stringer...

Media should be calling out Pierce and Garnett for walking away without shaking hands a bit more. But I will say slow it down ppl and let's see how things go in the ECF before Chips are given out

True, but it's still only the conference semis, they kinda over did that celebration last night....For a second I had to ask myself "did these niggas just win the championship??"..There's still alot of work for them niggas to do..I don't think they'll beat Chicago.
