your gonna need a vga to hdmi cord or vga to vga or dvi to hdmi or dvi to dvi(or vga to dvi)....alot of choices but to be honest vga to vga should do just fine

there are wireless vga's but i have heard they are not that good

I have the cable. But everytime I plug it into the PC port on the TV, nothing happens. What do I need to do on the laptop?

what is it that your exactly trying to do? just play your xbox on your computer screen? or want to record video. either way you need a capture card.
