How Did Mac Miller Get So Big?

Mac Miller is big in 2012 cause Mac Miller is 2012, he's a little non threatening, jewish, hypebeast, fresh prince of bel air nigga that doesn't give a shit about hip-hop and doesn't know what the word integrity means. He's just having fun not giving a shit just like his teenaged fans.

Some misnomers...

1. White helps describe why he's cultivated the fan-base he has, but it isn't the sole determinant of his success.

2. Eminem has not fallen off... He continues to sell. Recovery went multi-platinum, and Bad Meets Evil went gold (sold as "Bad Meets Evil" and not "Eminem x Royce da 5'9", which makes a difference in how sales are generated).

3. Other Jewish rappers include MC Serch, Ill Bill, Necro, etc. As dope as they were/are, they have not achieved the mainstream success he has.

i have no idea because he's anal sewage. rittz is the only white new rapper ive heard where ive felt every song of his

Elaborate on this.

Anyway, homie has some dope music, although his album was lame.

The High Life, Kids, and Macadelic all have a good amount of dope shit on it.

i think it has a lot to do with rostrum records and im sure he had the money to promote

i dont really think him being white is a factor cuz yelawolf is white and a way better rapper and sold less than mac miller

def got alot to do with it ... rostrum i think they can be credited for his online visuals ... which imo is one of best assetts ... do was hitting the bulls eye with them joints from the gate .... imo Nikes On My Feet was the first one to really put him out there and it just keeped climbing from there ....

however if anyone is actually from pittsburg could speak on it that would be the best .... cause i just know about his online grind ... def interested to see if he had a name in Pitt before getting a nice following online ... especially seeing he is with rostrum .... and also if anyone knows how long he has been with rostrum ... from the beggining ??? later on ??

hes like the nigga to first post a popular thread topic on the IC right as it happens and the shit goes 3K in comments not cause of the t/s but because of the topic. Him being white didn't get him shit. There are whtie rappers that come and go. But wiz was the first white overtly hipster weed smoker to have some boom bap weed beats in his music.

Also he was one of the few white rappers that has a geeky yet powerful prescense on the mike. Most white rappers don't have an effective sound vocally that gets people to think they legit. But Mac had that shit too. Cause most white rappers have that im awkward i box lefty sound when they rap that eliminates their popularity from white fans by default.

damn didnt know mac from myspace ... are you seriuos about that one ????? especially seeing that hes was a top artist on myspace ??

and cosign everything in the second paragraph ...... i cant tell you why other folks liked mac ... but i fucked with him from the gate for them exact reason ... regardless of skin color i thought the kid showed alot of talent that was reminensent of 90s era hip hop early on that is ..... and i think what put him over the top was the charisma he showed vocally and even in his videos ..................

and like a few other folks said about the whole its cause hes white ... before mac blew up these kids thats in a group called the East End Empire and ILL Spoken from pittsburg a group mac was apart of before he blew up ... they introduced him just as another member didnt make it seem like he was on the verge of blowing up ...... however Mac blew up and these white kids who can spit just as ill as mac still aint blown up .... so trash the white talk ..... however imo the difference betweenn them and when mac started doing solo stuff ..... thier vids were low budget and macs vids were all high quality .....

whats even more crazy is i was suppose to get up with them dudes and do some music just never got a chance to make it happen ...

You're right about the videos... They've been very key to his success, just as they've been key in the success of a lot of indie rappers these days who are generating buzz. His videos are directed by the same guy, and this is someone who he's met before his career even started. They've worked together throughout. It's elevated both of their profiles.

Also, the key to his success is his online grind. He was around in Pittsburgh to an extent, but you can't emerge in small cities by being hot in your city first... too much hate in that. You gotta conquer outside your city to get love in your city when it comes to smaller cities.

I didn't know he was big. I've yet to hear anyone outside of the internet that know who he is.

really?

# 1 album on itunes , & a feature on that damn maroon 5 " moves like jagger " song that was almost top of the billboards, plus you can't go to hot topic without seeing his merch.

he's big now. & the one difference between him and other up and comers is he has fun and you can tell.

unlike some of these rappers who just act TOO serious all the time when it's obvious they aren't really like that.

No one said anything about fans.

You said no one outside of the internet knew who mac miller was.

a ton of people know who Maroon 5 is. & that remix made a lot of people know who mac miller is.

same with the hot topic merch and #1 album on itunes.
