how can you talk about dances as a sign of being relevant. cali swag district have nothing now and new boyz have moved to making club shit. tbh the west coast has been making some dope music, but ny is way more relevant than the west.

new york top ten debuts on the billboard since 2008:

#4 nas & damian marley - dr

#2 nicki minaj - pink friday

#3 jadakiss - last kiss

#3 cam'ron - crime pays

#7 method man & redman - blackout 2

#5 busta rhymes - bomb

#9 mos def - the ecstatic

#1 fabolous -losos way

#1 jay z - bp3

#4 raekwon - ob4cl2

#5 50 cent - BISD

#6 fat joe - elephant in the room

#4 g-unit - tos

#1 nas - untitled

#9 ll cool j -exit 13

west coast top ten debuts on the billboard 200 since 08:

#2 game - lax

#5 ice cube - raw footage

#3 snoop dogg - ego trippin

i think the west has been making great music (crooked i, fashawn, murs, blue, kendrick lamar and game etc) but to say its as relevant as ny is crazy

lol Let me start this off by deleting Kid Cudi from that list automatically. He ain't an NY rapper.

Stop giving me wack ass billboard spots. No one gives a fuck about any of those rappers except maybe Fabo. Ever wonder why Fab is probably the only NY rapper getting play down here? Because his got his influence from the South which is why he stay relevant.

lol I stay seeing Fabo in FL artists vids, giving shout outs to Mia.

Fat Joe, G-Unit, Cam'ron, LL Cool J (LMAO), Methodman, Raekwon, 50, Mos Def.

All these niggas suck ass and are irrelevant. NO ONE is fucking with they shit outside they own state.

Only people in that list that's making any noise outside NY is Nicki (Who stays with Southern niggas. I ain't never seen her with no NY niggas lol), Fabo (Who gets his style from the South) and Jay-Z (Only time Lethal Lips here gets any play was when he was on Ross' FreeMason and when the white boys from NY were bumping his shit.)

You don't know me bruh. I actually was listening to that music back then due to my parents and cousins.
And Yeah Chronic and Doggystyle and AEOM are good/classic albums. I'm not biased like you are I actually own about 3 of those east coast albums you mentioned.
Also,Death Row did run the 90's no one was fucking touching them Pac was 6x plat while alive Dre and Snoop's album wen't 4x plat.

T/S ignores the FACT that "Dougie" was STOLEN from Texas....yet still assumes credit. Laughable.

I never ignored that.

The West realizes that they can stay relevant by fucking with the South. So maybe NY should get with the program.

NY is dead

old ass Jay aint even fuckin with NY artists, look at who he signed

NY needs a revamp, they lost the identity, they trying to be gangbangers or southern niggas

Nas, Jay an 50 cents cant save yall..

wack ass nicki cant ave yall unless u want to dress up like barbie dolls

and wiz is no jayz, that nigga a wannab snoop and he's average at best

NY needs to go back to the roots stop copying other niiggas styles, let the south and west do them....

Midwest and East are still releasing the best albums though.

Raekwon and Nas have released two of the best albums in the past two years.

Give me some examples of Jada being on everybody else's track lol.

Nas barely sells. Stop lying to yourself.

Wiz Khalifa IS NOT FROM NEW YORK! How fucking stupid can you be to think he from New York? GOD DAMN BRAH! The nigga single is Black & Yellow...Hell...His latest mixtape the nigga is using Southern beats.

Minaj is getting boned by Southern niggas and is on a Southern nigga's label right now. NY needs the South to get one of artists put on. A loss for New York yet again...

All of his new beats are from Southern artists and he has adopted that Lil Wayne/Drake flow.

I see nigga in Southern vids all the time.

If you deny this then you're blind as fuck.

I know Wiz ain't from New York, but his from the East.

Nas sells every time he drops an album, in fact very few southern artists apart from Wayne Luda and T.I outsell him, check the performance of his last solo album Untitled for further verification.

Also Fab flows like Mase did, always has done, just because someone has a slow laid black flow doesn't mean they are trying to copy southern cats, i mean Fabs hlow is nothing like Jeezys or Guccis.

maybe in ur eyes, but the majority dont agree

niki minaj ny biggest artist...and she dressed up as barbie, so 99% of ny niggas cant fuck with her music unless they cross gender or gay

Nas lives of former glory and lets be honest he will never recapture the success he had...

Fab is done, he's nearly 40, he will never do ross or wayne numbers in the foreseeable future...he's just another jadakiss, juelz, soon he;ll be fat joe status....nobody checking for them

NY is on the rocks, you have a barbie doll as ur biggest export thats all.....

only a clown wud believe ny has anything to offer in the current climate.....

ny been soft since the roc fell off and uncle jay screwed his artists over

Im trying to figure this shyt out as well...i'm not one to refer to record sales for anything other than popularity and if you really look at the few albums that went gold in the past 4 years, nas has two of them.....rappers that these cats praise cant even do that but nas is washed up....lol this whole shyt is funny yo

Raekwon dropped the best album of the year so far, Pharoahe Monch just dropped an contender, no album from the West since Blu release 'Below The Heavens' and Fashawns 'Boy Meets World' has really been something you can argue to be a flawless album, while last year alone some of the best albums included ' Joe Buddens ' Mood Muzik 4' Nas and Damien Marleys 'Distant Relatives' Wu-Tangs 'Wu Massacre' and Freeways 'Stimulus Package', and i can go on, the Midwest and East have been dropping the best stuff imo, also the likes of Fashawn and Blu don't seem like recreating the quality of their debut albums. Saying that out of all the newcomers Dom Kennedy is probably the one i'm feeling the most right now.
