There are and were many Asian hip hop artists who are not Americans.

Yeah but the question is; How come there's no Asian Eminem? Like a guy who dominates mainstream culture with magazine covers and number one songs?

They are only 5 or 6 percent of the total population

Isn't Tyga enough?

But there are plenty they just ain't pooped off.

From what I understand hip hop is huge in Japan and they respect it more than we do here in the States.

I remember the Teriyaki Boys doing a song with Kanye that was a hit and Jin's light success. The values of Hip Hop culture goes against Asian culture, so I can see why they aren't drawn to it. I also think it has a lot to do with testosterone too, which is why you barely see women in hip hop also. Asians are not emotional enough and lack the testoroine that's needed to be a captivating rapper.

Why do people keep saying Hip Hop culture and Asian culture don't mix. You guys do realize that the Hip Hop culture is big in places like Korea and Japan right. There is a difference between there not being any big named Asian rappers and saying that Asians don't partake in the culture.

OK, so let's rephrase the question; How come an Asian MC hasn't hit mainstream America yet? Jin was the closest thing. He won Freestyle Fridays on BET but aside from that one song he did with Kanye West (and I don't even remember what it was called) His career was pretty much a flop.

I think at the end of the day "good" rap is just tied too strongly to Blacks. Look how many white boys try to be rappers. For every Eminem, there are a thousand white boys that were ignored. Asians are a much smaller population in this country, so the likelihood of one of them breaking through is even smaller.

Because it's hard to achieve greatness in a culture that's so foreign. I see martial arts films the same way. Asians put on the best productions because it is embedded in their culture, and that's why most times when other groups of people try to make martial arts films, they either come across as cheesy or just bad.

Saw some asian gangster shit on youtube. It was actually decent. People who aren't Asian usually box them in and have no idea how diverse their culture us like every other race. Jeremy Lin comes to mind.
