Are.you.fucking.serious?

Why wouldn't i be serious?

both Jay Z and Nas from the start of their careers from their very first Albums have got Singers/Vocalists to feature on their Song's and Singles wether it be female Singers like Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, Kelis or male Singers like R Kelly, Quan, etc pretty much RnB Singers have featured on Jay Z & Nas records to give the Song Melody

You not wrong in terms of the majority but there actually some that never ever feature RnB Singers

But my point is those that do feature RnB Singers atleast other times when they don't feature RnB Singers they add the Melody them self for the most part and may ocassionally get a RnB Vocalist to feature once in a blue moon

But the point of this thread was how Jay Z & Nas never do that they never ever add the Melody them self wether it will be Singing the Hook them self or just use a Melodic delivery even if it's not all out Singing

Theyre MCs...not singers everytime Nas has tried singing his own hooks it turned out terrible. (Song For Destiny, Big Girl, etc) because theyre smart enough to realize their own limitations its a problem? Not many artists are multi-taliented in that way.

Yeh true but on the business side of things it is expensive to pay for RnB Singers or Pop Singers or Rap Artists that can Sing or whatever kind of Singers to feature on your Song's and it's not like Jay Z and Nas will just get a Singer to feature on one Song on their Album's they have atleast 5 or more Song's that feature a Singer on each of their Album's

I dont know about all that...I dont have the track listing for every album in front of me but the bottom line is it makes more sense

as much as her threads are annoying.... she does have a point, and obviously she's hinting that Em does...

But i can definitely see this argument, i mean just look at the song with Wayne, Drop the World. Right when Em comes in he's almost singing and it's w/o autotune (not that he didnt have to touch up his vocals)

But Em def has more harmony/melody in his songs far more than Jay and Nas. Honestly if i heard Nas doing something like that i'd die laughing.

I dont think My 1st Song is along the lines of what the threadstarter is saying... But i also dont think Melody is the best word, since that's really just using your voice tone to match pitches in the music which i think Jay does...

Probably more Harmony.... Bone THugs has that, Mos Def, Slug, Brother Ali

Em singing on that part of the song is proof he should just rap

That may be but he harmonized well on it, followed the melody very well and that was only 1 song
