I SAW A YOUTUBE VID OF KAYNE SONGS AND THE SONGS THAT HE SAMPLED AND IT WAS DAM NEAR ALL OF HIS HITS... IT IS ALSO WELL KNOWN THAT HE HAS GHOST WRITTERS.. SO IF THE MAJORITY OF YOUR WORK IS IN FACT SOMETHING SOMEONE ELSE DID, HOW IS THAT BEING GREAT?

SAME GOES FOR ANY OTHER ARTIST THAT MAY DO THIS...

SAMPLING IS COOL, BUT DAM...

How is emmit smith a great running back if someone else, blocked for him, drew up the play, and called the play for him?

Can't fault a hip hop artist/ producer for sampling...the music was built on that shit SINCE DAY ONE. Kanye not a legendary rapper in my book with or without a Quentin miller. Kanye def a legend, dude been on a wack music streak lately but can't ignore his contributions to rap.

As far as I'm concerned, you can't be a legend if you're not up front about your work. Kanye has always given credit to the people he has collaborated with, so I see nothing that would diminish his status.

And as far as him and ghostwriting, it's literally impossible to prove, so I don't take that into consideration. I'm only interested in facts.

It's not impossible to prove folks wrote his lyrics theres verses on YouTube of Kendrick and big Sean rapping that kanye used later on songs (atleast it was last yr)

What songs are you referring to?

All day nigga

My understanding is that that song is going to be on Swish and hasn't been officially released. So we don't actually have the official credits. However based on the below link Kendrick was credited for writing on the song, so he didn't ghostwrite.

Everybody samples.....Southern producers sample....everyone of Outkast, UGK, Ghetto Boys albums are full of samples...

....AND HERE HE GORS TRYING TO MAKE THIS A SOUTH VS THREAD...

I DIDNT SAY PEOPLE DON'T SAMPLE, I SAID HOW CAN THE MAJORITY OF YOUR WORK BE SOMEONE ELSES AND U STILL CLAIM TO BE THE GREATEST

Pete Rock is a legend. .....most of his samples are so small he doesn't even have to have them cleared ....he has also chopped up samples so hard that the original artist wouldn't recognize it .....plus he has original works as well

Shut yo dumb ass up

Y'all niggas crazy. Hip hop started because in nyc they cut funding for arts, meaning music and bands and orchestra. Because you can't keep niggas down they figured out a way to still make art without having technical music knowledge, by taking break beats and talking over them. It hit a nerve and ppl liked it and it evolved to what we have today. To discount someone because they sample is beyond idiotic.

Furthermore, everyone can sample. And everyone isn't Kanye. So making it seem like what he do is easy is asinine.

"Mayonnaise colored Benz I push miracle whips"

Nobody wrote that for him

Producing got his foot in the door, rapping in front of jay got him signed to rocafella and album releases

Rest is histry

I can explain it.

Kanye is claiming to be the best at sampling. Almost every Hip Hop producer samples, but some are better than others when it comes to listening to an old 70s record and finding a 3-4 second piece to sample.

Puff Daddy was good at listening to hits from the 80s and remaking them. But he wasn't much of a crate digger. He didn't find obscure records and remake them.

A good example is that 5 to 1 sample Kanye used for Takeover. I would have never thought to sample that.

U cant run down his list of production discography and not give him respect.

He produced a lot of hits for other rappers and singers, he made classic albums for other rappers (common's Be, half of blueprint 1, cruel summer mixtape, pusha t my name is my name)

His album discography is tough and he didnt just spit on beats he made the beats too.

He even gave twista n common new life, always fucked with Chi rappers

Work ethic gotta be crazy. I can deal with some borrowed lines here and there when youre doing everything else as well.

But if u have a problem with sampling u arent left with too many legendary producers. Its what u use and how u use it.

In the words Dame 'Chatty Patty' Dash: 'Oh schitt I gonna front, thats kinda dope?'... Ye did actually used to write and rap, his first album was probably his most original (im guessing) his first 3 albums were dope, after that he became wack IMO...

Its like believed his own hype, in fact his first album was all about not having excessive amounts of material objects and being shy etc, everything he ISNT now, so he clearly lost the plot...

Sampling wise, some producers do take it too far and literally 'bite' a whole song, but if its dope its dope, but its a shame some people never know of the origins of the original song, but aslong as the OG musician gets a cheque if it blows up everyone gains...
