How big of a record was 'Black Republican by Nas ft. Jay ?

At the time, it was huge. Now it's just another of each of their songs. Bigger moment for me personally is them performing Dead Presidents together with Chris Martin on the keys.

Jay had better verses on both this and Success. As for the actual record, this was at the time, the hottest record to come out in the last couple years.

"Success" was much better. Despite my expectations of "Black Republican," I found it underwhelming. Instead of an overly dramatic beat, I was hoping for something a little more soulful and basic and for Nas and Jay to just spit some raw shit.

the epic feel of the beat was appropriate to me, I love that shit, but now that I think about it I'd kill to hear them trade verses over something simple like the 'Otis' beat

I think that song was more about a statement, then how tight it would be.

It was a pretty decent cut (8/10 is the highest I'd go), but it left a mark to show that THE two most respected emcees in Hip-Hop could settle young their boy shit when they're grown men, so Hip-Hop is maturing a bit.

Best line of the song had to be the end of Jay's verse: "Now the team got beef between the post and the point / this puts the ring in jeopardy - indefinitely"

Perfect culmination for his verse and a dope-ass metaphor.

When heavy weights collide they should collab more often to get a chemistry. Nas and Rick Ross benefit from increased collabs. "Accidental Murderers"> “Black Republican"

Weezy and Juelz version. Wayne skated (pun intended) over this beat like two legends ain't already kill it! *Trinidad James voice* My favorite verse from that nigga for a minute.

Juelz was alright too.
