So with all the uproar about the tax cuts, I haven't gotten around to checking what the Senators have to say about DREAM. What are the odds of the Senate concurring?

Well in the words of the joker"They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. I’ll show you. When the chips are down, these… these civilized people, they’ll eat each other. See, I’m not a monster. I’m just ahead of the curve."

Oh I'd say....

*carries the oneeeeeee*

ZERO percent chance lol

Unless Obama agree to a 100 year extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich as well as Sasha and Maliah's soul. Something I wouldnt be surprised if he'd considered at this point smh

LOL, Obama sucks at negotiating. He fucks up the two most basic things every time: 1) come to the table asking for more than you're realistically trying to get and 2) don't ever tell the other side what's the least you'll accept.

Republicans stay styling on Obama.

I saw a comment on the Huffington Post today: "As a liberal, I just wanted to know....is it too late to join the birther movement?"
lol

the bill will cap the age at 29. Also you would have to speak and write in english to be elegible. in terms of family there would be a 12 year waiting period and the family members would have to leave the US for a period of 10 years.

Didnt say I agree or believe what its says. Just stating how the address it. I am 100% against it. How can we boost our economy by addidng millions to our unemployment, welfare, medicare, etc. Also if you add millions of people to our work force who will work for half the price that will drag down the labor rate and decimate any remaining " middle class" ( if you believe they still exist.lol

I don't like the option of having to go to the military to get citizenship. People who can't afford college might consider going into the army and might think it's a quicker way to get citizenship, anyway.

lol what???

isn't that what ppl who can't afford college do now???

you're stupid. how are you ADDING ppl to government funded programs

the bill is about taking immigrants that are already in the country, and giving them the chance to become productive citizens

you do realize that the law requires elementary and secondary schools to provide education to illegal immigrants.

you do realize that once those immigrants graduate from high school they are stuck and can't do much after that. So why not give them the chance to contribute to the country that they call home?

"at least 50,000 to 65,000 illegal immigrants graduate each year from public high schools in the US"

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act has 2 goals:
- eliminate the federal provision 1623a that has been interpreted as precluding public universities from providing in state tuition to undocumented students
- provide young people who have not yet attained the age of 21 the opportunity to become permanent residents they are deemed to: possess good moral character, have been in the US for at least 5 yrs, and have or will have graduated from high school when they submit their application

the bill is focused on kids who have been educated in the country not children crossing the border today

IM STUPID? Maybe you dont know what illegal means. they are not already on these government funded programs because they are illegal. Maybe you dont know any illegals either. Talk to some and find out any moneyb they make here gets sent back to their own country, how does this contribute to the US economy? just wondering. Also most people who eneter debates name calling are uninformed losers or fake email thugs.lmfao

let me give you just one example of how illegals here already hurt actual citizens.....an illegal goes into the emergency room for an operation....gets released, left no real information such as address, name, etc...has no insurance. when you or i go to the hospital our cost is that much more to make up for the lost revenue they will never be able to collect. the real big difference is if we as legal citizens have no insurance they can take us to court or collections until our bill is paid off. I understand the thread is about making these people legal citizens however the timing is way off.......There isnt enough jobs for legal citizens so by making them legal they will be able to benefit from all of our handout programs befor they actually contribute.....one to many apples upsets the apple cart. Im from Connecticut which currently has a huge deficit and steadily rising however just as you mentioned illegals are schooled here and also given free breakfast , lunch, etc every day at said schools. schools are run by tax dollars right? if the people using the resources are not paying into them through taxes what do you think is going to happen in the very near future?

yey, this is true.

But fortunately, The DREAM Act rewards imms who have spent years displaying a pattern and tendencies which don't usually = to someone, carrying on that way/going around America disrespecting democratic processes, in that way.

I agree...however I dont think now is the time to pass this act given the current state of US economy. I see this as a hail mary by Obama because this will create tons of votes . its not a real act of compassion.

think of it in mathmatics....we currently have millions of legal americans unemployed ..so much so that the want to extend benefits for another 13 months on top of the current extensions of 99 weeks. Now this bill will actually create a whole other work force on top of the current one. we have to remember that industry no longers exists here. Most jobs that fell into that category have been outsourced over seas. here in america we actually don't make anything anymore. one big reason we are in debt to china(we are their number one purchaser of goods in the world.
