James Wan - Didn't he either direct or produce Insidious? I saw Insidious and it was very decent. I really liked the twist in Saw. He's not leading the pack but he's not in the middle either. Although since most horror is shit, he probably looks better in comparison than he really is.
Aja - Definitely underrated. High Tension is one of my favorites. It may not make total sense but I loved it anyway. It's different than most modern horror movies. Even with out the language dubbing, you can tell his directing style is not American. True suspense....you don't get that too often nowadays......Hills Have Eyes was underrated I thought. Just based on shock value alone. For a commercial horror movie, it pushed the boundaries. Most American horror films stop just short of the fair haired white girl getting raped. This one went all the way, even though it technically didn't show anything.
Rob Zombie - Absolute total crap. The only one even close to decent was Devil's Rejects and it just barely cleared "decent".
Adam Green - Only saw Frozen. Liked it, but it's not memorable a day later.
McLean - Embarrassed to admit I still haven't seen Wolf Creek. Might just watch it tomorrow. I've heard good things.
Marshall - Descent was great but....slightly overrated. Still enjoyed it. It's a refreshing change to actually have story arcs for the characters instead of just killing them off arbitrarily and the audience knows absolutely nothing about them.
Eli Roth - He's tacky and does cult films but I love him. I love love love Hostel, and Cabin Fever is good. I don't care what anybody says. He's got his own style. And while his films may not be technically great, they keep you entertained.
