i'm not condoning this but some directors in Hollywood don't inform actors on what the situation in some scenes to get a natural reaction so it doesn't come of fake or seem like the actor is hamming it up. in the movie alien ridley scott didn't tell the actors about the creature coming out of that guys stomach and it freaked them out for real. some of them were traumatized and having breakdowns.

There's a difference in walking in a haunted house and getting startled by people jumping out at you and having one of those people jump out and rape you for a reaction.
