Hollywood expecting us to really get excited over movies about C-level superheroes?

Niggas wasnt reading Thor in the hood

Maybe YOU weren't, but I know plenty of cats who are huge Thor fans.

Thor is one of the most popular members of the Avengers, as well as one of Marvel's most powerful characters. You simply could not do a proper Avengers movie without him in it.

Even if the character isn't a "marquee" name like Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man, if the movie is good, it will put asses in seats. Look at Iron Man.

thor is dope in the comics, mucho grande powerful mega ill type dope. but, for the ironman world...nah

I have to disagree there.

We all know the Hulk is going to be in there, so why not Thor? Now, I'm sure your point was that because the Hulk is a science based character, whereas Thor is a god, and a mythological/ mystical figure, but that's the beauty of the whole thing. It goes back to the formation of the Avengers. Initially, the other Avengers didn't believe Thor was actually the God of Thunder of legend, so you could have some great scenes with Thor and the science-oriented, magic-hating Iron Man. If they do it right (And I'm sure they WILL, since Joss Whedon will be directing the Avengers movie), it could be great.

Just FYI--I heard they were adding Hawkeye. I saw something that said dude (the lead) from The Hurt Locker is supposed to be playing him, which I am excited about. Always been one of my fav. Avengers just for being a straight rebel/smart-ass

EDIT....just a rumor, no confirmation as of yet....I can still hope.

whedon directing the movie eases the pain, and yes that dynamic worked for the comic. i think this is a bit different in this age of movies with the hero/superhero paradigm having changed with ironman and tdk. while they are both a stretch, and ironman is certainly more of a stretch, they are still somewhat believable to the average movie goer. had they had more of an allusion to magic or mysticism in the first ironman or hulk, maybe...but just plopping thor in the middle of this marvel universe smells like fish. hey, if they pull it off, i'll be a happy camper.

I guess we have to see what happens in the Thor movie, since I don't really know too many details about the plot. I'm sure they knew they had to try to find a way to make all the pieces fit. I just hope they came up with a good solution that doesn't bastardize the character.

Side note, still not feeling them casting Chris Evans to play Captain America. WTF?
