I thought I was the only one on the IC who listens to Billy Joel

Haha hell naw. Piano Man is GOAT. Elton John cool but he don't got bangers like The Piano Man.

I hope Action Bronson get to do a real collab with dude someday, that was dope how they showed each other respect. (Bronson gave him a handwritten letter asking for sample clearance because he's such a huge fan and Joel loved "Brand New Car" so he gave the OK)

his daughter can get it btw:

hall & oates (thought they were black when i was little)

maroon 5

green day

30 seconds to Mars

pink floyd

I listen to a ton of r&b & jazz, some rock some gospel

At the end of the day Im a music fan first. I grew up with my grandparents and they always had different shit playing. I had to find rap on my own.

BunkHeadShaking.gif

Lol They got a few joints I Like.

When you work in places that dont play yo shit you tend to enjoy some tracks after awhile

My nigga im a black hockey player from Connecticut. Dont get me wrong im open to allot of shit. But nickelback is like the Soulja Boy of rap. Cant stand them cats.

lol if anything that does Soulja Boy a disservice. Nickelback is like the rock equivalent of combining the worst parts of Bow Wow, Drake, Iggy Azalea, and Birdman. If nothing else, Soulja Boy will always have "Donk" killing the twerk sets in the club. Nickelback tho? Plz believe there are white supremacists that will bump Dead Prez and Nature of the Threat before Nickelback lol.

Dont forget Tiny Dancer

I just copped an original first pressing of Bird on 52nd St by Charlie Parker for $150 in VG+ condition. It was originally recorded in 1948 and released in 1955.

Okay, assuming all of us either are or at least view ourselves as hip hop heads I got a question for you all.

Jay Z openly admits to loving Coldplay and attends their concerts. He also says Sgt. Pepper is one of his favorite albums...

Devin The Dude has shouted out Steve Miller Band and James Taylor in songs...

Nas recently said Sam Smith is one of his favorite new artists...

I saw in one thread here someone was gettin hate for being a Dave Matthews Band fan...

Name some artists or tracks that are straight outa left field for a person who is a member of a Rap forum

Basically... whats the whitest music you bump in the whip or that's on your iPod????

...Don't be scared

the one edge i do that puts Billy over Elton is the fact Billy Joel wrote and arranged all his shit. Elton John a cold mufucka nad he got hits for days. However Bernie Taupin wrote all Elton Johns hits you can think of. Now don't get me wrong Elton John got hits for days i just was bumpin philadephia freedom yesterday on my jog.

But when it comes to billy vs elton bill takes the cake cause of his originality and the fact he writes all his songs.

Mostly rock music. Namely, Pink Floyd and The Beatles

(It's long, but that shit is glorious. It's called "Dogs", by Pink Floyd, off their album 'Animal Farm')

("I Want You" (She's So Heavy) by The Beatles, off the 'Abbey Road' album)

But, I listen to lot more rock artists

AC/DC

Kiss

The Rolling Stones

The Who

Jimi Hendrix

Smashing Pumpkins

Nirvana

Metallica

Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody is the shit)

Radiohead

I also listen to different genres:

R&B (The favs - Stevie, The Isleys Bros)

Funk (Earth, Wind, & Fire, Morris Day & the Time, the early Prince stuff, Ike Turner & the Kings of Rhythm (pre-Tina))

Soul & Neo Soul (E. Badu, Jill Scott, Amy Winehouse, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo)

Pop (mostly MJ....but a lil' Madonna here and there)

Jazz (Stan Getz, Billie Holiday, Miles - of course, Monk, Coltrane, and Duke Ellington)

Country (JOHNNY CASH)

Symphonic/Chamber (Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Gustav Holst, John Williams)

Go-Go

Reggae

Club/House

Electronica

I can't name all the genres, but let's just say I'm very eclectic.
