God created everyone and we all are God's people in the physical sense. Just like all of humanity could be considered Noah's children in the sense we all physically descended from Noah and family. Yet, you still retain the idea that really you are the child of your biological mother. So, why choose to not go any further than just the physical aspect alone when it comes to describing God's people?
God's family, the way talked about in the Bible, has a spiritual distinction.
I guarantee that we're not all Noah's children, but that's another debate altogether.
The nephesh is inseparably attached to the body, it is our soul and life. The Hebrews never had this Platonic division between body and soul. Even in Christian tradition, God created the soul and body and both come from him. Now, in both traditions, the soul can be disobedient to God - this does not change the fact that God created the
entire human being. The loss of these created beings is a loss for God.
We can see this idea talked about in the New Testament of the Holy Bible in a number of places. People are spiritually either a child of Satan or a child of God. It's one or the other.
so we have: children of the Devil, children of God.
That's an interesting division, that ninety per cent of the population are children of the devil and only ten per cent are children of God. It is not as if this ninety per cent as if they have no redeeming qualities, as if they are all bent and twisted to some kind of malevolent evil. This simply isn't true, look around you. Most of the ninety per cent contains a better quality of people than this vaunted ten per cent. In fact, I tend to like people from the ninety per cent more - they're generally more tolerant, open-minded, loving, and kind.
And you still haven't gotten around this problem: sins are finite, our lives and the decisions made therein are finite - they should not equal infinite punishment. The Hebrews got around this, not sure why Christians can't.
If you can understand and accept that God judged that the majority of the human population was, in reality, children of the Devil, and none of His, you should be able to see how this is in no way a defeat for God. Only a defeat for the Devil and His minions. God's people would in no way become corrupted by the Devil. The Bible tells us Satan is not capable of such power.
For example, observe what is said of God's people in this passage - "and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."(John10:28)
I'm sorry, ninety per cent of the human population lost is still a defeat.
You say that as if the redemption of only a small percentage of humanity is a reflection on God's ability -- to save. Read - "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."(Acts 13:46)
The problem is that the majority of mankind is not doing what God wants them to do so that they may be saved.
No, I think that Christianity's limitation of God's ability to save is a reflection of small mindedness.
I see where you're coming from, but people don't actually actively rebel against God. A lot of people believe they're serving God, their gods, or humanity to the best of their abilities. They don't say, "I'm going to be a child of the devil and rebel against God." They honestly believe with the very same admirable conviction that you have, that they are doing right and following the correct path. Some of them are entirely ignorant of your gospel and others only heard it partially or once or twice. How can they be punished for not jumping aboard your religious train, especially when so many Christians do such a poor job of representing this religion?
I am more than ready to acknowledge that it is a sad, sad situation. But you are choosing to focus on the wrong thing. See, the GOOD NEWS is, that if you are a child of God, then you don't have anything to worry about. None of that is even going to matter in the slightest way. God didn't condemn YOU to eternal hell. He wants you to come to salvation through His Son Christ Jesus.
It is sad, but I also think it is unjust. You will never be able to acknowledge that, but it definitely is unjust.
Nope. It's not that easy. You can't be partially right in regards to what's taught in the Bible and propose that you know the whole truth. Plus you arguing from an imaginary scenario. Therefore, we don't have to consider it because you not bringing facts of the Bible into the discussion.
An imaginary scenario that has very likely happened somewhere in human history - a genocidal maniac finds Jesus repents and dies. Many of his victims never knew Jesus and die. Justice? No.
just as long as it is short. Which doesn't make sense, but...yea.
something to think about....
Word.
