at the end of the day the "hater" effect doesn't translate to money to that artist nor does it translate to widespread exposure. because 75% of the so called fans it seems don't even legally buy an album. plus while the internet seems big the majority of people don't come on hip hop boards to talk and debate. same with twitter and facebook they are a small percentage of the bigger world.

And as big as the lil b's are hyped up the quicker they fall out of relavance. Lil B got money off his hype but hopefully its invested in Wu tang financial because 5 years from now hes not gunna have as much money coming in hell next year he might not have money coming in like it was coming in.

what you mf said

& it's funny how some folks will constantly talk about about artist they find "wack", but if you ask them who they do like you'll hear crickets

which leads me to believe they actually like the artist they find "wack", or they're ashamed to admit who they listen to

You know you contradicted yourself right?

You say it "doesn't translate to money", then say "Lil B got money off his hype"

but where did that hype come from?

more than likely the "hatred" from his look like Jesus song, cuz after that it seemed like everyone was talkin bout him (good or bad)

& the old sayin goes "bad publicity is still publicity"

Thats true. Since this site is opposite world, if a popular rapper is gettin hated they probably make good music. I dont go by no opinions on here but if i heard somethin on the radio or somewhere, and liked it, and see on here how terrible it is, I know that artist is doin their thing. Gettin too much praise on here aint a good look.

True

I'm a hater

I hate Asap Rocky and I hate Trinidad James.

Fuck them bisexual wack ass rappers.

For now on, I will just ignore wack ass rapper threads and focus on the ones i like.

I'm just gonna ignore and laugh at them and their fans and give them the gas face.

No more hating

I feel that would be best

Cuz even tho you think you're doin a service (which you could be) by discouraging others to listen, it's still like promotion if you're constantly doin it

The money a rapper gets does not come from hating it comes from the hardcore fans. Yes good publicity is any publicity but someone hating on a rapper doesn't give the rapper more fans the fans who posted that original artist give him money.

See if i don't like rapper X and share it with my circle of friends they not gunna like him either. Lil B is eating off the guy who loves lil b and shares it with his friends in opinion leader fashion. Its more about the hardcore fans spreading the word to their friends and those friends telling friends.

The biggest reason a rapper gets a breakthough (weather 15 mins of 15 years) is not because of his haters but because he got a few cosigns or support from another rapper or industry vet. That industry vet saying they like this nigga gets that persons millions of fans or contacts to like it because they respect that person.

Someone could hate on kanye west all they wanted to call him homosexual and wack and whitey cause he didn't talk that street shit. But that is not why he made it. He made it because jay z (who almost didnt let him spit) overlooked his geekness because of his dope tracks then co signed his rap career...the rest is history.

A good co sign >>> a hater spreading the word about how they think your wack.

& most don't even realize it lol

cuz it seems like (@ least on here) folks who claim to not like an artist talk about them more than the folks who say they do

even tho "haters" may speak negatively about an artist to try & steer people away from listening, it sometimes does the opposite & actually helps that artist gain fans

So, I say that to say this

if you don't like an artist, you can express it eloquently w/o being a "hater"

but if you're constantly talking about artist you don't like, don't be surprised when their 15mins get extended.. cuz you played jus as big a role as the fans in helping get the artist name out there (ex. see Lil B lol)

Haters are a special type of fan....fans with misplaced love

Aight, dig this tho

If you don't like rapper x & share it onhttp://community.allhiphop.com/categories/the-reason

Is that just your circle of friends? No

that's world wide, so there will be folks who've never heard of rapper x that you don't like.. & guess what? some jus mite fuck around & like it & become hardcore fans that buy cd's, concert tickets, merchandise, etc.

So, as you can see.. "hating" can generate some income (however small or large)

& are you seriously tryna say folks have careers cuz of co-signs? If that's the case why ain't Memphis Bleek still poppin? Since you brought up Jay (who didn't even want Kanye rappin @ 1st, jus producing) who been co-signed Bleek

All I'm sayin is, constantly talking about rappers you don't like does more good than you think.. & not the good you think you're doing depending how you see it

Nas said it best "some say hating is confused admiration"

cuz it's one thing to give an artist a try (or two), not like the music & keep it moving

but it's another to give an artist a try (or two), not like it (@ least claim to) but still check for & talk about that artist year after year

Part of the success of many rappers is the co sign. Now memphis bleek aint popping but look at 90% of young money not really popping despite a birdman and wayne cosign. Im not saying a cosign automatically gives you a long lasting success. but for anyone to start they need a connection or vet to either share their shit with a label and or be an opinion leader.

And while the world wide web appears to be this big space it really isn't as big as it seems especally at the message board level. Now i will give you this media outlets like worldstar hip hop do influence popularity and buzz beceause they are an opinion leader. So even if they show a video of a crazy rapper that does turn heads cause its on worldstar.
