After seeing how it's implemented in America, I'm bordering on "No hate-crime legislation".

What the fuck is the judge doing if they can't assign proportionate sentences based on the facts of the case ?

I still feel like it's necessary but sometimes the (mis)application of it dilutes the intent behind it. The expansion of it is also something I'm worried about....like ppl really want attacks against cops to be a hate crime (when they're already a "protected" class legally and socially) and I'm sure there will be something put on the books for it under trump.

Hate crime statutes are supposed to be a deterrent but like most deterrents its a failure.

It leads to excessive penalties in most cases, which more or less continues the American concept of over-punishing individuals.

It's a surface level solution the doesent penetrate systemic root causes.

I don't think it hurts, but more is needed to affect change.

the law we as black people need to focus on is the 2nd amendment and bear arms. Learn to shoot, get permits to carry so that we are able to defend ourselves at all times
