Your boy doesn't have to be a big timer to book them but he does have to have the ability to guarantee the demands of the artist before they agree tot he booking. Fees aren't the only demands that must be met. He'll have to pay for the artist's travel and lodging accommodations in most cases so he's going to have to open his wallet if he wants to do it. But it's profits to be made. I have friends that did it for a while.
i didn't say search google. I said go to the find the booking agent for the artist he wants and check the agency's website. Most legit booking agencies have their own website.antarticp;2637153 said:be carefull with searching google for booking agency ... there are millions of them on the net acting like they have connects to every artist in the world ...
the best way to go about it ... is either contact the promo depart @ the artist label ... you can find the number usually on a retail cd .... or use social networks to get an official contact ... twitter, facebook etc.... 9 times out of 10 u wont be able to contact the artist cause they are getting too much traffic ... but if u study thier account enuff u usually can pinpoint thier manager, tour dj, assistants etc .......

it's really no real magic formula to it except $$$. All your boy has to do is do a little research on the artist and their booking agent is usually very easy to find. That's how the artist makes money and the agent is always on the lookout for a gig for his artist. All your boy gotta do is hit the agent up and tell him what kind of gig he got in mind and then they negotiate a deal. Can't give a set price because all artist art different and so is each gig. They can't give you a price until they know what you want done. Like if he wanted to book an artist like Wiz just do quick easy research and he'll run right into this dude... http://www.sonicscoop.com/2011/03/2...-for-agent-peter-schwartz-on-hip-hop-touring/young_reezy;2645113 said:i already know you gotta accomadate a nigga, he gone wanna smoke good, eat good, have a good place to stay, good transpo what not and also be safe, i already thought about all that. i was just tryna c if anybody on here had some game to share on the subject.

antarticp;2645953 said:my bag homey ... ive never successfully booked an "big" artist yet ... because of diff reasons price too high, couldnt agree on a date, rescheduled for a date i couldnt accomadate, business partner disagreements etc.....
jadakiss 1ok
nicki minaj 22k
wiz khalifa 30k via that peter swarchz guy and i spoke with someone @ rostrum records ... this was the way to high of a price situation
Fabolous 10k - thru young sav @ def jam
The Clipse 10k - booking agency
Vado - 5k - got personal connects in this camp
Jim Jones - 10k - got personal connects in this camp
Freaky Zeaky - 2500 - got personal connects in this camp who told me an higher price (never negotiated with them on it tho) ... another friend of mine got it down to this price ....
Peedi Crack - 1500k (for event in delaware)
Gilly Da Kid - $750
i also had french montana on the line but he wouldnt give a price unless i confirmed a date n venue ... which sounded backwards to me ... why would i book a venue and dont even have my act etc.... setup yet ?????
most of these were just quotes i personally got from these artist ... the only ones that were sure shots ... were Fab, The Clipse, Wiz Khalifa & Freaky Zeaky .... i had those booked but due to reshedules, business conflicts, pricing conflicts those shows never came to life .....
i had other reasons other then becoming a promoter in doing these events ... so i stopped pushing @ a point because those reasons to do it were becoming MOOT ... but its def a struggle trying to get these artist ... to the point that even when you do got one on the line ... up to the very last minute they can cancel on you because they may have a better offer somewhere else or issues on the road stopped them from making it on time etc ....................
but in my opinion VERY LUCRATIVE ... if u get artist your market wants to see ... plus it will boost ya profile like a mofo ...!!
good luck mane ...!!
Old Fart;2645362 said:From what my boy that did it told me, booking the artist is usually the easy part. It's securing a show location that he had the most problems with. The artists wont typical perform at just a backyard or house party so the gig gonna have to be at some hall or other rented facility that has adequate accommodations. Places be charging a lot for rap shows and insurance be crzay. That's what drove my friend away...that and poor attendence at the shows. Once the right spot is secured the rappers usually had no problem showing up and honoring the contract.
My boy got a lot of groupie love too. That was his favorite part of the job.
bmoreeast;2646041 said:Yeah i figured they were just quotes cuz i was about to say Jada and Jim (unless it was around the time that Ballin came out) were def tryna get over. I know for a fact that they have done shows here for way less. But at the same time Jada has alot of personal contacts here and Jim comes here once a yr on average so that could be why their prices here were cheaper.

It takes some of the pressure off your wallet and it adds another "promoter" to your roster. Also.... in an event like this... OVERLOAD ON PROMOTERS. what you'll pay out to a good promoter is nothing compared to what the loss will be if not enough people show up.
