How about how many views they can make in a day Jay? Could be like a high number, but for the one's who have become addicted and are viewing 30-50 threads a day, it would be a good idea to refer them to a page that shows them the sign in and say something like, "as an active viewer of the World's most dangerous site, we would like to request that you become a part of the community and enjoy hip hop discussion at it's finest, otherwise, take a rest from the board and see us again in an hour". Blocking them for an hour even, would be enough for most to join I think.

Good that some rooms will be blocked from them though, even that will spark sign ups due to a favourite forum disappearing from them.

Yeah, I'm sure the owners of the site don't want us to block the guests completely cause that would cost them page hits, but if we can reel 'em by letting them see a little bit then making them register to continue browsing, we'd have more to show for all that traffic at the end of the day.

I agree with ms. s. there should be a 24 hr viewing and once it's over have a page saying sign up and be able to have access to more.

well what you do is redirect them to the join/new member screen when they click on certain rooms. thats how the old ic was. you couldnt come in ill pix, certain parts of the reason, the powder room or ill tek.

only thing is ... just making someone join doesnt mean they will participate. they can just log in and view everything. you'll just see their names at the bottom of the page. good ideas and good contributions from posters are the only thing that can get people to interact. or maybe a good mobile app

Exactly and the process is made easier because you're already allowed access after putting in the effort in the first place to read, most people don't need many posts for their I.C. "Careers" to take fruition.

i disagree

the only way you can get people to participate is different levels of membership after the fact of making them join. the fact that you can see any room as a guest is proof that people wont join no matter how "interesting" topics get. when things come to easily to people they dont hold any value to it. you know how many guests are in the ppm and in ill pix period??? if all that downloading and right click saving could only be achieved after say 500 posts ... people would already be used to posting here by the time they even get to the good shit. i remember people discussing in threads till they got to the point where they could make threads and then making threads etc so they could get into the bootleg and ill pix
