I listen to alil bit of everything aslong as it's good. There's times I wanna chill back and listen to Nas, Budden etc on some lyrical shit , then there's times I wanna crank some ignant Future shit.

Can't say I outgrew anything, cuz I never listened to wack shit.

You're talking about rap music. Hip-Hop is defined as a culture, that consists of more than just rapping. Hip-Hop is not a style of music or some fad.

But on topic, it's not necessarily growing out of music, it's just your perspective changes as you mature. You may become more open-minded, more close-minded or take a liking to a certain frequency.

You may have so-called matured to the point where Wayne ain't saying shit to you, but I may start to see the genius in what he does as the years go by. There's no laid out path, or definite direction on which way you "grow".

For instance, as a teenager, I wouldn't have given Future the time of day, because I was stuck on what I liked at the time. But as an adult, I see the artistic value in his approach towards music. Same goes for a lot of these non-traditional artists that I wasn't trying to hear in the past. On the flip side, I no longer see the value in the rappity rap style, as I feel like they're marginalizing the musical integrity of rap music.

@_goldie_ i think you can agree though that certain stuff does sound dated no?

But music that sounds dated isn't the same as growing out of music due to becoming more mature.

Em's music is still dope to me, songs like "As The World Turns" will never get old to me, that's great storytelling with comedy. Same with Stan and a bunch of his other songs. Ofc there's some songs that you won't feel as much as you did 10 years ago, but you can say that about almost any artist.

Plus Em has a ton of introspective songs or as Shady would say "emotional" songs lol I don't get the hate for Em.

stan is the exception to the rule. Stan was a movement and a real ass song

i mean, i could listen to bitch please pt 2 all day, but, i aint checking for a whole project from him

on another note, i've been on a huge Budden binge lately. Been bumping mood musik 1 like errrday b

The whole MM series is fire, I fuck with MM4 the most, but I know most say 3 was the best.

It's only natural to grow out of some music and maybe even appreciate music you didn't like during a different time in your life

My views and opinions have changed since I was a teen so something that made me nod my head back then I may now twist an eye to and think how can anyone believe this shit

Mobb Deep came on in the gym the other day and I just don't enjoy it like I did when I was younger....it happens

Idk about it growing out of but there's definitely rappers I listen to now I used to think we're wack. Few years back you couldn't tell me Gucci wasn't trash...this year I swear his opening bars on Back On Road are some of the hardest shit spit this year. I've grown to appreciate music that's fun just for the sake of being fun as long as there's still some effort being put into it. I will never like somebody who is just putting out bullshit ie Lil Yatchy or some of these other new niggas but some shit like Black Beatles will get bumped all day

You don't really grow out of good music the problem is that what you once thought was good music was really trash and as youget older you realize it

You don't hear old folks saying they grew out of the Beatles or bob marley or metallica because within there genre they made good/classic music

I used to be a De La Soul fan when they first came out. But I listened to 3 Feet High and Rising recently and it sounded kinda corny. I liked it at the time but I can't listen to it now.

Whenever i get bored with whats coming out lately i just rewind the classics just to remember why i like hip hop so much. Eric B & Rakim, G Rap, Kane, KRS.

Outgrew the gangsta shit, because when cops come around, all of that gangsta shit is neutralized and there's nothing cool about killing your own kind, even if it's only machismo/shock value.
