Really the first player that the media and advertisers tried to aggressively market as the "next Jordan".

He literally had his own shoe, a GMC deal, and several other endorsements before all-star break of his rookie year.

And that was rare back then.

I always knew he wouldn't meet the hype. Great career, HOF'er, etc. tho.

He probably lucked out legacy-wise with the injury tho.

He got hurt right before the media and fans switched from "build him up" to "tear him down".

A couple more mediocre Piston seasons wouldve got ugly.

Had he stayed healthy he would've got the "Can't win the big games" stigma long before Lebron did.
 
He was damn near as good as Jordan in his prime, the Pistons just werent winning like the Bulls. Jerry Stackhouse was jacking shots up like crazy too
 
One of only 6 NBA players ever to average 20-6 during his first 6 years in the NBA.

No question he is a HOF and class act.

He really was Bron before Bron.

He had better handle but was not as good an outside shooter or as strong as Bron Bron.
