I think most of us give him a pass for not writing a lot of his shit because he was a producer first.but that's gonna hurt his legacy IMO.

Yeah I don't give that shit a pass at this point. If it's about the production, then just release beat albums.

"it has never been seen as acceptable by casual fans..and never will be."

lmao what casual fans you talkin to? no casual fan gives a shit if dr seuss wrote dre's lyrics or not, if they like the shit they dont curr

Producers who are well known and just want to be on songs = pass

Rappers who just suck at rapping = foh

Pass: Diddy, Dre

FOH: Bow Wow

Nah it's still very taboo to have ghostwriters in rap for casual rap fans.go up to a girl and tell em drake done write none of that shit and look at her reaction.that bitch head will turn around full way like the excorsist.

It don't really matter IMO unless you're a serious m.c...like who cares if bow wow don't write his shit I'd bet you it be some shit if t.i. Didn't write..

People still do care about this.only kiddie rappers joke rappers producers and for some reason female emcess get a pass as well..they shouldn't though.

i dont think the actual writing should really matter, especially today with so many garbage ass rappers i wish these niggaz had teams of writers doing their shit, they should just be straight up about it. also i think ghostwriters are good in situations where the writer is a goofy ass nigga with no real style of delivery and flow, but he can write some ill shit for another nigga that have the actual rapping part on lock.

if anything it should be like in other genres of music where they all have writerz help them write shit.

at the end of the day all that really matters is just putting out good music, i could give a fuck if these rappers are "real" or "fake" if they really did the shit they be rapping about it dont affect me. all i give a fuck about is if they make some dope music that i can listen to and actually enjoy.

Nah,that's one of the things thatmake rap unique along with freestyling and battling and dissing, beefing, etc.its supposed to come from the heart, the imagination or improvised off the top of your heard.

Would it help keef big Sean or soulja boy and our ears for them to have someone help them with bars subject matters and concepts yeah but I don't think it's good for guys like let's say common or even ross to have g writers.

People wouldn't take em seriously.

It's different for hip hop man.this isn't r and b or rock.

Same thing like why does it matter if someone had the iller verse on a collabo or why someone loses a battle you feel me?

i mean ye said "I don't need to write hits, I might bounce ideas, But only I could come up with some shit like this" and lets be real coming up with a hook isnt really ghost writing when you getting paid for it and credited as a writer on the song or telling the person to change a line here or there come on now

If an emcee is honest about not writing his own lyrics, at least then I can understand. Dudes have deadlines, might be on tour, going through writer's block and haven't written shit. Lying about it, however, is not acceptable. I know that the shit is frowned upon, but I'm willing to bet more rappers have done it than they admit.

Now give me 1 good reason WHY they should be honest about that? Not like the rap game treats even a damn PRODUCER who's HONEST about not writing, well. Fuck you think would happen to a rapper saying that?

You all still don't know what ghostwriting is.

If the writer is credited for the song, such as Jay-Z writing Still D.R.E., it's considered co-written by them.

Actual ghost writers are paid to keep quiet and be unknown, hence the name.

I said BowWow status not the actual guy lol but u get the idea the average mediocre rapper like 2chainz should not b proud to say hes written most of his bullshyt material due to him being college educated he needa jus come out and say some young cancer patient did that as a favor to the MakeAWish foundation

HipHop is the only music that is afraid to mention that they have contributing writers even when their names are on the Credits. In Rock, R&B, and Pop, artist are expected to bring their voices to the table and it's accepted that they many not have a strong pen game. In HipHop, presence is just as important and a gifted writer may not have the presence of a complete artist which includes their voice, swagger and character portrayal as well as their ability to utilize what's written with oral skill. Still, HipHop ads a gladiator effort and expects one person to contain all those elements for everyone. Even though it is respected that artist in other Genres do their own thing on all levels, it's not expected. I'm not talking having know musical talent or writing abilities, I'm talking being able to step aside and have others work with you including writers to create a hit. That's collaboration rather then Ghost Writing though which is still not as bad as lip syncing but seems a lower respectability then fabricating your life. That probably gives HipHop more credibility when looked at honestly because more is expected at least amongst avid listeners.

Though I'm not a fan of ghostwriting, I have realized that Hip Hop was pretty much built on biting. Damn near all the beats are sampled, which I'm cool with, so ghost writing shouldn't necessairly be taboo. At this point in my life, I'm more focused on the final product rather than the particulars.

shit @picoroscoe be ghostposting for me sometime when im being lazy and thats how it is in hiphop niggas get lazy

but i always say if u cant write it! u shouldnt be sayin it!
