Prosecution still got a rebuttal.

I take it they're waiting to see how the defense lays out the specifics of the struggle on the ground from Zimmerman's perspective so they can attempt to poke holes in the assertions that he had a reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm. Can they prove that Trayvon didn't reach for the gun? De La Rionda already referenced the lack of Trayvon's fingerprints on the gun and George's supposed different stories about the reach for the gun...but I think the different story about this particular detail was his friend's interpretation (the guy who wrote the book and said GZ told him Trayvon touched the gun or holster) so that can't necessarily be taken as a definite lie from GZ.

Can they prove that GZ didn't exhaust all means to escape once the physical confrontation started?

IDK but it would be very difficult since he's claiming he felt like his head would explode in addition to the "reaching for my gun after telling me I'm going to die tonight" claim. After seeing testimony from the witnesses observing his minor injuries I'd imagine that some jurors may feel that GZ embellished about the perceived seriousness of the injuries, but can you be almost sure that he didn't feel a certain way?

IDK It's gonna be tough. I'll have to review the requirements for this lesser charge of Manslaughter.

Prosecution did a great job today. They have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman held ill will towards Trayvon Martin and did not kill him in self defense. These guys are smart enough to know they don't have enough to get a conviction for that, so they're trying to backdoor it by switching the onus to the defense. Oh you want us to prove your client didn't kill Trayvon in self-defense? Well how about this, you prove to us that he did.

It just might work.

It seems from what im hearing the prosecution did its job today. Really, they (prosecution) should just make this a common sense arguement. Forget all the scenarios, get to the point.

In spite of Rachel Jentel's ignorant demeanor in court, she's really the only true credible witness in this case. Especially looking back on all of these fraud, irrelevant witnesses they've called to the stand. The single strongest statement is when she said right before Treyvon dropped his cell, the last thing she heard him say was "Get off me. Get off me." That clearly shows GZ is the aggressor, I'm surprised the prosecution didn't focus more on that during their closing today.
