I kinda knew Stannis would pull some bullshit like this when they had him comfort his daughter early in the season. I knew they were trying to use that to set up for something later. Smart move by the writers, but damn it makes Stannis' character look bad.

What makes it worse, is that I wanted the mother merked because she was sitting there trying to justify it at first, but then her maternal instincts kicked in and she wan't to save her. The fact that her hateful nonmothering ass didn't want to go through with it but Stannis did says everything you need to know about what a shitty human being he is.

One of the main themes of the books, show is what it means to be excluded from power: to be a woman, or a bastard, or a dwarf

Arya, Brianne, Cersei, etc are driven by the fact that they are born into a world where they cannot do or attempt the same things as men can

And while Cersei may be overly emotional, that doesn't mean she's dumb

Thanx in part to her gender she was never taught how to lead/rule and can only focus and succeed in small situations...that's her problem

And cersei is not completely to blame for the coming fall of the lannisters...jamie, tywin, tyrion have all played a big part
