It wouldn't have worked. Remember Robb is declaring the North as being independent. That's what their side of the war is all about. Stannis has already made it clear that when he's King, everyone will be under his domain.

And it does kind of give the character a purpose for existing...the events of the first season made it seem as though he would play a vital role in the series somehow, at least imho

Season 1 commentary was great. Only got through half of season 2's, but the one with Liam Cunningham(Davos) was funny. If it's anything like the last one, the Lena Headey/Dinklage combo is gonna be gold. Love all the stuff from the writers and GRRM too.
