Rakim change how lyrics rapped. G rap a better rapper now, but in their prime Rakim all day.

He did, but so did G Rap imo... I think G Rap ushered in that new school flow, plus introduced the mafiaso content of rapping... Plus he is still killing it... Both GOATS though...

What song in the 80s G Rap put out that could fuck with Microphone Fiend ? Not to take away from G Rap but in his prime in my opinion nobody was fucking with Rakim in his era.

This is a tough one. G Rap is still dope af lyrically. Rakim is legendary as well. It hurts my heart to do this but....

One song imo song doesnt make an artist better... Its all opinions at the end of the day, both are incredible, but G Rap got more classics overall, imo... 'Road to Riches', 'Wanted Dead or Alive', 'Live and Let Die', '4,5,6' all classics, then he drops heat in the 2000's (and I believe is the first mainstream artists to get Joell Ortiz on a track) with 'The Giancana Story'... Plus his feature game is crazy... Plus is FLOW, dude has influenced rappers styles like Pun, Vinnie Paz, Necro etc even Nas and Rae with the mafiaso style bars... But like I said its all opinions...

I agree with all of that, that why I said in his prime. I think G Rap still killing it today while Rakim is not as sharp. But in 88-91 Rakim all day. At the height of his career he was arguably the top Mc at that time.

G Rap didnt drop an album until 89, Rakim was what, 87??? Both in their prime I going with G Rap out barring Rakim...

Some rappers get better as the age, example Biggie, Sean Price, Lil Wayne. And some decline such as Kurupt, Prodigy, Lil Wayne. Rakim decline and G Rap got even better, but in the 80s and early 90s The R would have took G Rap. What G Rap do in the 89-92 fucking with this

G Rap wasn't even the undisputed best in the Juice crew back in the day.

The Juice Crew had like 15 memebers haha but the only rapper better than him was Masta Ace who is my top5 GOAT of all time and he wasnt even in the crew till late, after that G Rap clearly my number 2 in the crew followed by Trag...

And was was G Rap doing in 89-92, really??? He was dropping classics breda...

'Been through hard times, even worked part time

In a Key Food store sweeping floors sometimes

I was sort of a porter taking the next man's orders

Breaking my back for a shack from headquarters

All my manpower for four bucks an hour

Took my time and wrote rhymes in the shower

Shoes are scuffed cause the road gets rough

But I'mma rock it cause my pockets ain't stuffed enough

All the freaks wouldn't speak cause my checks were weak

They would turn the other cheek so I started to seek

A way to get a play, and maybe one day

I'll be performing up a storm for a decent pay'
