So, lemme get this straight. DC is fixin' to kill off this guy at the end of Forever Evil???

Considering their 2 worst enemies are on the roster I definitely see Superman and The Flash leaving the team out of protest.

Could be him giving up Nightwing though. I could see Dick Grayson being this world's Owlman though. Remember we learn that his family has direct lineage to the Court of Owls.

I highly doubt that court of owls shit would ever be brought up again. I do think he won't die though. DiDio learned his lesson years ago he's not going to go through that mess with the fans again. I see Grayson just operating as Dick Grayson from Forever Evil on out for quite sometime. TBH I don't really care either way cause this watered down New 52 Dick Grayson is not the same character I grew up reading for 20 plus years. So I have no real attachment to him despite Dick Grayson usually being my favorite DC hero outside of Batman and Superman.

Whatever happens next is going to lead to Captain Cold and Lex Luthor showing up in Justice League starting this April.

I don't c y bruce or anyone else would b cool with lex joining the team for any reason.

shoutout to cyborg for maintaining that status quo of having the nigga stand in the back for a group pic.

That's nice but there's definitely precedent for such a team up not just in elseworlds stories but older continuity DC stories too. This is just the New 52 way of dealing with that trope. Lex Luthor has always had shades of gray to him like a lot of other DC villains (Black Adam, Sinestro, Deathstroke, Ocean Master, Captain Cold, Two Face etc.). He isn't some blatant mustache twirler and the main hook of this series has been to highlight that about the DC rogues and how "evil is relative".

Anyway it could be that Lex is the hero of the day at the end of FE. The govt and the people see that and want the JL outlawed since they'll blame the CSA takeover on the incompetence of the heroes. So this could end up being the only way for superheros to operate in a post-FE DCU, by cooperating with Lex in a team environment because the world leaders and the people end up putting so much trust in him after he saves the planet.

Or it could even be that that is not the mainstream Lex Luthor and is instead Alexander Luthor the traditional hero from Earth 3. But I have my own theory about that character and this event. I think if the hooded guy is Alexander Luthor then like tradition Lois Lane from Earth 3 will end up having his kid. The twist will be this time that this Luthor unlike his older appearances is as selfish and manipulative as the mainstream Earth's Lex.

Since the Earth 3 Lois in this case is Superwoman I think she's really carrying Alexander's baby and she was the one who told him "soon" before he smiled under the hood in last months JL. She's conspiring against Owlman and Ultraman on Luthor's behalf and they plan on taking this world for themselves. So I don't see JL Luthor really being Alexander being the case. There are different possibilities that could be taken it's all a matter of waiting to see how it ends up playing out.

The story may be slow in terms of how the narrative is unfolding but the characterizations have been on point. Sinestro, Captain Cold, Deathstroke, Manta, Adam and Luthor were all excellent in this issue. So consistent with their best characterizations that it felt like the reboot never even happened. I also liked Power Ring's brief moment of bliss cause I felt pretty sorry for the guy.
