Well Fox News has been ramping up the fear hourly before it even got here to America. I think the public has just been more cognizant of the bullshit they spew over the course of the past year or so. As a result their fear mongering machine is no longer as effective as it once was when it comes to certain issues.

However those other viruses and diseases hit much closer to western civilization despite the impact never matching the hype. Americans instinctively tend to not give a fuck about African plight until it begins to effect our economic and social interests.

The buzz on this in America is already starting to pick up though... I mean look at how we're discussing it in here and the number of patients in the continental 48 is below 5. If another half dozen or so people pick it up we'll start to see the discussion begin to swell.

But with the quality of healthcare in America I highly doubt it ever becomes as devastating as it is over in Africa.
