Congrats to Fetty, his album was probably my 2nd favorite of 2015, behind Lupe's joint. I still don't like the new platinum rules though, it's not as impressive as one million physical copies sold but Fetty's album was definitely fire.

Nigga what? Its been a min since we had a good ass year for hiphop but you have fetty wap's trap queen in a minor , b minor, etc as your 2nd favorite?

Nigga how is it a cheat code?

Cars dont even come with cd players now why judge an artist based on an almost obsolete technology? Is shit not supposed to evolve? Should we still be ranking artists on cassette tapes?

God some of you niggas are dumb.

You realize they counted digital album purchases pre this cheat code right? Nobody is saying only count physical copies. All we are asking is you only count a purchase of an entire album via cd and or digital download.

Counting every 10 downloads of a single from an album as an album purchase is cheating. If you product is dope then people will buy the whole thing not 1 to 3 hot songs. From a streaming standpoint yes people stream tons of music, but to count thousands of streams (many from people repeating) that is a cheat and a slick way to get more sales. Yes they cap the amount of streams they add to numbers but it is still cheating. If someone really likes your shit they would buy it.

It's not cheating if RIAA makes the rules. Things change. Did you dudes even know that originally they didn't even have a platinum category and they didn't count CDs? That they measure shipments minus returns and not sales? And that a platinum singles used to mean 2 million sold not one? And the original gold certification meant your sales equal 1 million dollars regardless how much you sold? RIAA also counts double albums as doubling the actual sales. Weeknd went play off trilogy because they tripled the actual units he sold . Y'all only have problem with this because artist you don't like are benefiting

Fuck everything you ninjas is talking! I aint gonna buy or download the ninja album or singles.....however if the ladies like the shit and the beat knocks, I fucks with it! Especially in a nice mature lounge setting! I can tell some of you ninjas like smoking weed, drinking with your ninjas listening to hardcore rap a little too much!

There's even better music than Hip Hop for partying.

Im cool with this nigga havin plat singles but plat album? Fuck outta here. How many of you niggas actually listened to the album? I did and that shit was trap queen remixed like 9 times

These rappers getting those Grant Theft Auto cheat codes to rocket launch their way to plat status lol. Fetty got hits no doubt. But when they start counting every 10 singles as an album buy and then start letting niggas stream an album 30 times and it count it devalues the award. Yes less people buy albums today. But that's like a sports team counting viewers at home as part of their attendance numbers.

Yeah I more or less feel this way. I'm a Fetty fan and dig his album, but I don't like this new policy of counting albums because it cheapens the platinum bar. Almost as bad as Rihanna's ANTI going "platinum", although she only got a million downloads, not sales. Not feeling this new system. Even Kevin Gates outsold physical copies of Rihanna's last "plat" album.

Nah, there's way better songs then Trap Queen there. I wish Fetty rapped more on it but the songs sound different enough.

I give the album a 4/5, I can play the album right now and be entertained.

I didnt know that about gold records I always wondered why they made such a big deal about gold records on those throwback music biopics and never mentioned platinum records.

But yea niggas on the internet complain about everything, inb4 niggas start saying netflix is cheating cuz you can watch episodes on demand and dont gotta wait til Tuesday at 8pm for a new episode. I thought Jay told niggas a few years ago #NewRules

idk what people are mad at.

I understand fetty wap is pop rap bullshit but if people like the product hes putting out he deserves to get paid for it.

why get mad at an artist getting money? they all deserve more if u ask me

if all u do is download shit for free and u listen to 'real' hip hop but don't support your fav artists u have no leg to stand on in this argument

let the artists get their money, pop genres always gonna sell more fuck it

I was thinking the same thing...why cant a label hiring people to stream albums or some other fake shti( like fake twitter accts) to say a artist is hot in the streets thanks to this new rule

This is not a good argument

Didnt labels/artists go out and buy mass amounts of their own albums in store sometimes?
