how so @obnoxiouslyfresh?

he didn't use it as his defense and I didn't hear any jurors use it to justify their decision not to convict on the murder...

My understanding is that they did not verbally state that "we anticipate an acquittal under the provisions of Stand Your Ground." HOWEVER, the verdict was still in accordance with the law. Stand Your Ground may not have been specifically raised at trial, but it was the lever that removed 'duty to retreat' from the statutes. Pretty much the sole purpose of that legislation is to repeal 'duty to retreat' clauses. If Florida were a non stand your ground state, Zimmerman would have had a hard time demonstrating that he had exhausted his means of escape.

Powerful interview.

My blood is boiling at the fact that Dunn's family never apologized the Davis family for losing their child.

SYG is in the instructions the Judge gave to the jury. It's part of the self-defense law in Florida. If you listened to the interview he explained it pretty clear.

Why are there so many people pointing out that this adult male is intelligent and articulate? Was there something about this tragedy that made you all think Jordan Davis' father was going to get in front of a camera all "Yeah fuck dat Dunn nigga dun Ima slit dat cracka throat word to muva. Shoutout to my son, son hold ya head Rival county gon rep you all day b"?

this is exactly what some...seemly were calling for

as he was accused of being "docile" and "knowing his place"

so folks are emphasizing how effectively he still is managing to express himself,

even with his obvious anger and frustration at the situation

good to know he has an open line of communication with trayvon's parents too

why?

why wouldn't it be? i presume they'll also be working together to try to change the SYG law

is SYG laws the the real problem (I know they are unclear) or is it these fuckers on the jury? ....and by fuckers I mean honkies

it's both...you can't stop people's bias so it is what is there...but if that law were simplified or eliminated altogether i can't help but think that jury deliberations wouldn't be so questionable. this is florida so i'm probly getting ahead of myself lol but having something in the law where x, y, z behavior is flat out right or wrong cuts down on debating if something is right or wrong regardless of bias.

true but like boogie said SYG really had little to do with this case...he wasn't threatened at all

i agree but it even being on the table was obviously enough for some

True...they just used it as an excuse not to convict... even though the evidence proves he was the agressor

Class personified. Real talk almost brought me to tears. You can feel the pain but yet strength and composure he has to keep for his family
