Thing about Chapelle is that he's not a leading man, so you can't really fault dude. TV is his lane, much like with Seinfeld. He's not overrated though, that's more the Louie CK types who don't make me laugh at all.

But it raises an interesting question of comedian's 2 best stand ups and 2 best films.

Martin got a nice lil 2 & 2 stash (you so crazy, runteldat & Bad Boys 2, Life)

Nope. In Living Color had maybe a couple good sketches and then some lame shit every show.

Nevermind that Jim Carrey's skits and Damon's Homey the Clown bit carried that show. Chapelle Show hardly had bad sketches.

for one In Living Color was on a regular tv.. they didnt even have the creative freedom as Dave did on a cable network nor a template..

Dave pretty much owe everything he did in sketch to the Wayans..

second Dave does have alot of filler and corny standup jokes inbetween sketches.. dont make me pull out the dvds to run the list..

and lastly.. the nigga walked off..

we mad at Eddie and penalizing his standup cause he gave u two of the greatest hrs of standup but not Chapelle who gave us two good seasons meanwhile In Living Color did twice that??

TV back then allowed more shit than it does today though. And again, you can't deny that Jim Carrey was carrying that show. The Wayans were basically support. Keenan didn't have any signature skits, Shawn and Marlon were garbage back then. Kim Wayan had moments, and then you had their younger sister who wasn't funny but fine as hell to look at. Damon is the only Wayans really bringing the laughs and that shit got repetitive fast with the Homey the Clown & Prison philosopher bits.

If we went clip for clip, Chapelle show would lay hands on In Living Color and have it tap out in the 1st round. Dave walked off, but still gave us more than ILC did
